Front area. The screen sits a little back on the stage.
Exterior. Looks fantastic at night.

Still the best (and now only) theater in town but uncomfortable seats keep it from perfection. With an Art Deco style that is immediately eye-catching, a quality screen, loud sound system, and great pricing, this is a great single-screen theater that's only open on weekends. It's also the only theater in town at the time of this update. The only downside is the seating. Despite being updated, they are not modern, reclining plush seats. I get why this was done, so as to not clash with the retro vibe, but the nearby Rivoli theater in Hastings updated to more modern seating despite being old-school as well, and its charm and vibe remained intact so I do wish the same would've been done here because the seats can get very uncomfortable after a while. Worse, if a showing is particularly busy, you'll be so close to someone that you may as well be sitting on their lap due to how close the seats are to each other. Skinny legends need not worry, but RIP anyone who is tall, broad, or even a little plus-sized because you will be shoulder to shoulder. Still, despite the shortcomings of its seating, this theater is still excellent. Tickets are inexpensive at $5 a pop and concessions are also very affordable. It's definitely great place to catch a movie, just keep in mind it may be a little uncomfortable. Oh, and also a little annoying if there are any rowdy kids around.

This is a second-run, discount theatre, but it is hands down the best theatre in Grand Island and the surrounding area. It's got a fantastic screen whether the movie is 2D or 3D and the audio system is amazing. It's definitely the best audio system in the Tri-City area which means it can be very loud. In fact, some may find it too loud but that's because the other theaters in this area have very tame audio systems. Trust me though, this theatre shows movies the way they're meant to be seen. The overall look and feel of this theater is also fantastic. It's very old-school art deco. Think BioShock or The Great Gatsby. Now, the only drawback with that is that certain aspects like the seating and the generally large theater itself can be out of place in today's day and age. The seats are not very comfortable (think seats at a school auditorium) and if you're sitting in the back of theater the screen is farther away and not very immersive. However, these complaints are minor quibbles because the audio-visual experience here is just too good, and the prices of the tickets and concessions are very low. Oh, and I haven't even mentioned the excellent staff who are there because they clearly love to volunteer and help rather than make money off you. Overall, it becomes clear after just one showing here why this theater has a near-perfect rating.

Life is transient and impermanent. "Everything passes like the flowering waters of a steep waterfall."This is the only existing downtown movie theater, dating from pre-WWII. The other theater which continued to the 1980's, The Capitol, was built as a Vaudeville theater and had a groovy 1920's balcony. It is now a parking lot, and I suspect it will remain in that state. Every city in America has the same sob story. The Grand, however, survived. It even has its share of first-run movies, and the local volunteer network who works on its upkeep likes to do nice things like replace and repair the art-deco lights and generally make it a decent place to go see a show (including the occasional live music performance).

Great old theater. The people working there are volunteers which means they actually want to be there and are very friendly. Pop and popcorn is very cheap and so are tickets. The theater is huge so you don't normally have to sit next to someone you don't know unless they are showing a really popular movie.

Historically revamped theatre house. The way they used to make 'em with a charm and delight that you got by going out to the movies. Cheap snacks as well as admission. Highly recommended.
