The City Pub

Early an early dinner in La Hood today! It's been on our list since they opened, and decided today was the day!Snagged their CFC! I'm sure you can guess by the completely empty plate, that it was GOOOOD. Great minimal breading, on top of a bed of summer squash succotash (say that five times fast) with excellent - non-split - gravy! Had to try their version of Fish N Chips, and lemme tell you... it racks right up with there my all time favorite fish and chips place damn near close. Great tasting cod - not fishy! - with a crunchy exterior, and home made tartar sauce. Never mind that they make their own... chips! Price for pub food but we get it. We'd definitely go back and try some of their other menu items!Place was fairly unbusy, but I hear they have BRUNCH! And a patio so for all your Brunch Baddies, make sure you add them to your list of places to try soon!

My friends and I chose this spot because we recently attended a concert at the Astro and noticed the City Pubs rooftop. We wanted to return and have a drink there. We went on a Friday night during the Husker game and were surprised to see only six tables occupied. Despite the nice atmosphere, our experience was disappointing.We started with a few drinks that were not up to par. The espresso martini was watered down, and the margarita wasn't great either. Our server/bartender, Sam, initially seemed helpful. When we asked if we could check out the rooftop, he offered to ask his supervisor to unlock it. However, when he returned, he said, "I unlocked it but make sure you guys bring your drinks back down or else I'm gonna be pissed," which caught us off guard. He seemed annoyed rather than joking, which was unprofessional.The food was terrible minus the Brussels sprouts. Those were very good! The $17 bacon bleu burger was extremely salty and made from a frozen patty, and the fries tasted like they had been fried twice and left under a heating lamp but were still cold. I asked Sam if I could substitute a side salad for the fries, and he agreed. As well as my friend who already received her food. I was charged additional $2 for my salad, which I expected for the up charge, while she was charged $6. When I asked Sam to correct this, he had an attitude and said "she had both fries and the salad" to which I replied, "yeah, but they were cold and taste terrible" I asked him to ask his manager to make the adjustment, which she kindly did. I felt like we were almost going to get into an argument over the old cold fries. My other friend ordered an $18 Caesar salad and asked if it came with shredded or shaved Parmesan cheese. Sam said it was shaved, but it arrived with grated Parmesan from a plastic bottle. Overall, the experience was poor. We spoke with the manager before leaving, and she apologized and appreciated our feedback. This place has potential if they make a few changes. I might try it again in the future if they were to make those changes. The upstairs would be a great spot to rent for a party or husker game.

I came here for a party and had a great experience for how chaotic our party was! We were basically a servers nightmare moving around constantly--although everyone was at least polite and kind.Our server did an impressive job at keeping everything straight and remembering our names/orders! Unfortunately, my nachos weren't great--minimal toppings and the chips were the thinnest type--great for salsa, but immediately soggy for nachos. Otherwise these would have been much better. Everything else I tried from others' plates was so good! Especially the jalapeño poppers and risotto. Cocktails were good and very aesthetic as well.I would definitely come back, but I'd never try the nachos again.

This is quickly becoming a go to spot for hangouts with friends. Service and food quality have been consistent the last two times I went. Do try the City Pub Poppers! They are absolutely amazing. It almost melts in your mouth. I wasn't sure about the bacon jam burger, but it did not disappoint. The menu prices are higher than I would have liked, but the food quality makes it worthwhile.

Yummy yummy! Stopped here before a concert at The Astro! We made reservations and was happy we did, with them being basically the only food place close it was a popular spot before concerts! One of my favorite meals in a long time. Their spin on Wontons were so surprising but delicious, I dream about them. I'm not a huge plain pizza person, but the white pizza was bursting with flavor! The jalapeño poppers, I'm not a spicy person so I was nervous but something about them was calling my name, and so happy I got them, because they were delicious, and I didn't think spicy at all!! Fries and homemade ranch 15/10! The place is pretty big and has lots of seats! Parking is hit and miss, free-no meters, but if there is a concert you might have to park in one of the garages! Service was great, she was there when we needed her, and did her job!

The philly was terrible. The bread was dry and inedible. The meat tasted like it was cooked yesterday and reheated. We told the manager he gave us $5 off. Ate fries and left. Would not recommend.

The FOOD was absolutely AMAZING! I normally don't give a perfect rating but this was over the top ...especially being served for that many people at once ...pizzas were high end...juiciest pizza I ever had...so many topping to choose from yet crispy...(how do they do that????!) their pull out romaine lettuce Caesar salad..(stop it!!!) you pull out your strip of romaine perfectly topped and ready to eat!!! I am obsessed with their brussel sprouts...too intense to describe...so delicious! Their freshly made chips and dip ...well tasted like "MORE please" quite the feast! Very friendly and top notch service...very beautifully made ..because presentation is EVERYTHING!

The city pub has done it again. Exceeding expectations with these new menu items. I love the tacos and just as good as it is plated, it tastes exceptionally delicious.I have more reasons to look forward to Tuesdays now with this addition. The other daily items are just as good.

A relatively new establishment in the recently developed LaVista City Center. Large and spacious. Modern with a lot of dark accents. Pub and bar with numerous televisions to watch sports and such. Staff was friendly. Menu has a good selection for a "pub". We went for lunch and decided to do some sandwiches. We both got muffuletta's. Wife got the house chips and I got the fries. Sandwiches were very tasty with a bit of a kick. Prices are moderate. Good solid place to hang out with friends, grab a drink and eat some tasty food. It wasn't real busy, so be sure and stop by and check them out.

I was super excited to try this new spot because everything looked so delicious and promising! The vibes and interior are super fun and the staff is welcoming and accommodating. Unfortunately the food was the ONLY let down, it was good quality it simply lacked flavor and tbh just looked a lot better than it tasted. I would go back for happy hour as the drinks looked delicious and some appetizers I didn't get to try, overall a very cool new place!
