I stopped in for a few cupcakes on a recent trip to Omaha. I thought the cupcake price was a little high, but I very rarely buy cupcakes.The cupcakes were very good and moist, and the icing was not too sweet.I had a red velvet, lemon, and lemon raspberry. The fillings in the cupcakes were quite nice also.The 2 guys behind the counter were very nice and we had a good and funny conversation.I was able to park right outside the store, which was quite convenient

I have called on the cake box many times( and truthfully any of those times were beyond last min.) and they have always been able to work wonders. I had my wedding cake done in 2010 by them as well. So beautiful. Salted nut roll cake is perfect for EVERY occasion.

While visiting Omaha from out of town, my family stopped into Cake Box for cupcakes. We were greeted with excellent customer service. The guys behind the counter were friendly and funny, and we had a few laughs. The red velvet and almond joy cupcakes were delicious; the cake was moist, the icing was creamy and sweet but not overly so, and the filling was awesome. The cupcake selection included all the basic flavors, plus some other great options like pink champagne and pumpkin spice.

I should deduct a star for the horrible communication that Chris Janicek has with his customers while trying to order a cake, but the cake is so delicious it doesn't even matter (and you always end up with a cake, it is just a pain to get it ordered).If you are in Omaha and you want a cake, call Chris Janicek's Cake Box immediately! He does all cakes for weddings and special occasions.I had him do my wedding cake and groom's cake. He's also done my sister's wedding, a graduation party, and this weekend my son's first birthday.I've done several cake tastings in Omaha for weddings, and his always wins!If you are dragged to a bridal show in Omaha, let his booth be the bit of fun you wish the whole event was (unless you are the bride, and in that case you think everything involving your wedding is amazing!) but in reality, this booth will make your day.The cakes themselves are super moist and the buttercream frosting is the perfect amount of sweet. It will also amaze you how smooth it will look, no need for fondant at all. The chocolate is good, but my favorite is the lemon cake with raspberry and custard filling.He also makes these specialty cakes like salted nut roll, which is phenomenal.As mentioned above, ordering your cake can be a bit of a pain, you have to leave a message and wait for Chris to get back to you. Obviously with weddings you have more time to work with than just a special occasion cake. But as I stated above, he will get back to you, but sometimes it just takes awhile. Either way, try his cake, it is so worth it!

I have never worked with Chris Janicek but all I know is that he is a disgrace to all bakers and am very upset because he takes credit for cakes he has not baked or decorated. On his website under the 5tier cakes gallery the second cake in the gallery is my wedding cake that HE DID NOT MAKE!!! he is taking credit for other talented bakers in town. This man snuck into our wedding reception and took a picture of our cake without our permission and used the picture in his gallery without our permission. WHAT A DISGRACE AS A BAKER! My husband and myself were never asked to have it used nor was our baker we have left him messages to have it removed from his website as that is rude and disrespectful to have your website show your work when you didn't do any of the work. Makes me wonder how many more brides out there don't know this man takes pictures of their cakes and then takes credit for them.... BEWARE if there was a "0" star I would rate as 0. This man never returns phone calls SO IF YOUR READ THIS TAKE MY PICTURE OF YOUR WORK!!!!!!

I was referred to Chris by a coworker for a birthday cake because I prefer to support small, local businesses. I think I called and left three voicemails before I got a response. When he finally did get back to me, I told him I wanted a fun birthday cake for a surprise, husker themed 50th party to feed 25-30 people and German chocolate flavored. He was a bit of a pain in the ass to work with as far as the time I needed the cake done by and when I could pick it up, but we worked it out. When I did go get the cake, it was too tall for the box so he had the top taped awkwardly and I was really worried about it. The decor was simple and it just said, "happy birthday" with nothing really entertaining about it. When he charged me $60 I was in even more shock just because it was a small, plain cake. I got it to the party the next day and it completely collapsed! Luckily, we all laughed and said it was a good representation for a 50th birthday since everything falls apart at that she anyway. We ended up spooning it into bowls to eat it and this is the only reason I am giving 3 stars. It was the most delicious cake anyone at the party had ever had. There were about 25 of us and there wasn't a single "slice"/ spoonful left. I never called and complained only because giving him my business was a huge pain, so he definitely wasn't going to respond to a complaint and it wasn't worth my time. I think that if Chris fixes his attitude and business etiquette he could be the number one guy in Omaha for cakes, assuming he isn't taking pictures of other people's cakes and saying that they are his like an earlier review said. People might come from all over to get one of his cakes. However, he lacks humility and is just plain rude. I do wish him luck in his business and I wish anyone who wants to get a cake from him luck as well. You're both going to need it!

I was reminiscing about my wedding and decided I needed to write this review. We had Chris Janicek's Cake Box make our wedding cakes 2 years ago. The most important thing for me was that the cakes taste wonderful, and second on my priority list was the appearance - so no fondant. We went with basic vanilla with custard filling and buttercream icing for the main cake, then we had chocolate with ganache for the grooms. Both were spectacular in flavor. The design was simple (like I had asked) and it was just perfect. On the day of delivery it was hot, and the cake sort of slumped over. I got a little stressed, but Chris came and fixed it all up before any of the guests arrived, and no one was the wiser. Very professional!

Run from this guy. Yes, he does beautiful, delicious cakes but so do many other bakers in Omaha. His cakes are not worth putting up with his poor business skills. Weddings and other special events are stressful enough without having to put up with his attitude. He did my son's graduation cake and my daughter's wedding cake. Once the orders were placed he would not answer his phone. He was so late delivering the graduation cake that I thought he wasn't coming and sent someone to pick up a cake somewhere else. The wedding cake arrived without the very special figurine we had chosen for the top. He said he forgot it because he "was busy." He seems to think he is doing YOU a favor.

Hands down the best cake in Omaha. We ordered cakes for each of our tables for our wedding. Chris worked with our florist on colors (let him work his magic on design!) and they were beautiful, and even more important, delicious! He was a lot of fun at the wedding. He came and boxed up cake to send with guest. He even made sure we had a sampler box in our hotel room that evening. Amazing cake!

Chris just did the cake and cupcakes for our daughter's wedding. Everyone keeps asking me where I got the cake!! It looked beautiful but even more importantly - it was the best cake I've ever had, hands down, and I was so glad I had it at my daughter's wedding! We had the traditional white brides cake, and chocolate cupcakes with raspberry filling. I would recommend this business to anyone. Absolutely delicious cake!
