The Big Garden

My first community garden interaction was years ago in Dundee. Boy, that was neat! Imagine a space in the city that you could go and grow things and meet others around to share the bounty that they had created. Then Benson got hip, similarly. If I understand, The Big Garden is responsible for getting them in the ground, so to speak.The Big Garden has developed over 150 local gardens and offers a wide array of services. I have been to a few workshops and plant sales this year. They usually take on some interns come summertime and this year there will be 8 full time eager gardeners. The location allows for so much knowledge and that gets shared with local schools where the kids may see more guns than plants. This spot provides a great respite from those spots.From foraging salads, mushrooms and saving seeds to offering started plants and infinite wisdom, this is the spot.They are Non Profit so when you come by, please drop a few buck their way. In my lifetime, I know what I learn here will be more valuable than currency!
