Small town bar at its finest. 4 taps, 2 of which were Nebraska brews. Cans and bottle as well, of course. We visited in Friday night, which had 2 special menus - one with fish options, one with many Mexican specialities including tamales, burritos and a taco-topped baked potato. We opted for a fish platter and a "the bar" burger with tots. Now would be a good time to note that the coleslaw appears to be homemade and is delicious! The fried fish was as expected, as were the tots. Clean oil, at the correct temperature and for the right amount of time for all frying procedures. The bar burger has A1, grilled onions and Swiss. It was both juicy and tasty. Next time we will try the Mexican menu or show up on a Saturday for prime rib! I saved the best for last- The Bar is home of Unadilla Bill, the world-famous ground hog. Oh, yes. When it is not February 2 (when he leads a parade down Main St and forecasts Spring) he stays on top of the beer cooler. We asked if we could take a photo and the bartender set him on the bar for a closer shot, what great customer service!! Don't forget to take your photo with him before you depart.

Fun small-town atmosphere. The food is always great; if you have a huge appetite try their sirloin with mushrooms on top. Mexican night has delicious food.

We chose to stop off for lunch in Unadilla on our way to Lincoln and eat at The Bar. Pretty easy to find on the south side of Hwy 2 in a beautiful old brick building. The area is clean and they are an accessible ramp. The place has an old diner type feel to it and the bathrooms were dated but clean. The service was efficient and friendly enough.Hubs had a double cheeseburger and liked it. He said the beef had good flavor and it was a big burger. I had a chicken fried steak sandwich, which we both thought had to have had to been a frozen from the box item. We were told everything on the special of the day menu was home cooked so we were surprised at that. She must've meant the other items, as we saw they did have beef stroganoff, hot beef sandwiches, things like that on the menu.We both had fries and had requested them extra crispy, which they were, and hot out of the fryer, but they would so have benefited from a dusting of salt when they came onto the fryer. There's that point when a bit of salt or seasoning will stick to a fry that's just been cooked, after that, just doesn't happen.The lettuce for the sandwiches was pretty tired, standard shredded out of a bag, not very fresh, just, well, tired, but edible. Also came with tomato slices. But understand sandwiches are served plain here so ask for what you want as far as condiments.I think if you eat here, you're best off to ask the server whats homemade and fresh, and chose from those specials. We noticed the local guys were pretty much doing that and their food was coming out fast and looked like being at home food.

The bar is located in Bueatiful downtown Unadilla.... Great food! Great locals! I would highly suggest the chicken sandwich and crispy fries.. Its my favorite!!!
