This was a great spot for lunch! The dinner menu looks just as great. We were wandering around on a small town adventure today and checked Yelp for a lunch suggestion. I'm so glad we did! The place has a small town vibe but could easily compete with anything in the Omaha metro. Talked for a bit with the gal that owns it. She was great! So glad to support a women owned business.I had a basic BLT and we shared corn nuggets. Pretty good. Husband had the lunch special, Tater tot casserole. My first thought was "I have the stuff for that in the fridge/freezer at home." Then I remembered that I have indeed not made it. They made it first so we went with that. He loved it! Not your grandma's casserole. The Thursday prime rib sandwich ($15) and Friday and Saturday steak specials ($25-30) will definitely draw us back. Thanks for a great afternoon.

Stopped here with a couple buddies for a bite to eat. This place is one of those great small town restaurants where "everyone knows your name". Got the special: prime rib. The waitress was fantastic and the good was as well. When we're in the area this is always on our list

Had a good dinner at the Back 40! The pizza and burgers were delicious, the appetizer combo wasn't greasy or too salty. Whomever's working the kitchen these days is doing a pretty good job.

I live in Southern California and was just coming through town on a genealogy search. I looked for a place to stop in for a bite to eat and was not disappointed. The meal was a chicken(fried) and fish buffet. Nothing fancy, just good home cooking. Corn and mashed potatoes along with better than average fried chicken.The staff was friendly and helpful.

This small, hometown bar is my absolute favorite place to grab a bite! It really has that "Cheers, everyone knows your name" feel. The food, whether you go on Friday night (Steak night) or Saturday (prime rib night) or any other night of the week, is great. The burgers are cooked to order (ask for extra jalapenos on your Back40 burger!) And the steaks are delicious! The prime rib on Saturday nights is worth the drive from wherever you are! Do yourself, and your empty belly a favor, go to Back 40 in Donia!

Stopped by for lunch.Recommend by the local resident Bruce and Rubywho raises angus and hereford cattle nearby.Iowa pork chop was the special of the day..Restaurant is super clean and owner quite hospitable and friendly.I was impressed with this little town of Macedonia with all the historical preservation and effort to keep the community active with their own live theater.Long ways from where I live but hope to visit again someday.

I was passing through the area and looking for a nice, simple place to eat a real burger on a weeknight. I was impressed. Had the Back 40 burger cooked just how I like it with corn nuggets. Staff was attentive and seemed to have good teamwork. I sat at the bar which gave me a shot of a very clean kitchen. Couldn't ask for a better experience. If back in the area, I will drop in again.

This place seems to just be on the struggle bus. We stopped in for drinks and it was a disaster. This was our 4th time stopping (previous 3 were horrible) but we decided to try it without ordering any food, nope was still horrible. Took us 15min to get drinks, and we were standing at the bar waiting. The bartender got an attitude when we ordered something she didnt know how to make even when we told her what all was in it. Staff were gossiping about the previous coworkers right in front of us ( HUGE NO NO) Waitress gave us menus and we kindly said no thank u were just drinking. She rolled her eyes and said whatever. This was the final stop at this place unless someone else buys it!
