We were passing through and spent the night at Windmill State Park. We usually try to eat at locally owned restaurants. We ended up here and tried their special...tip steak, baked potato, and salad bar for $12.95. This was one of the best dinners we've had while traveling in some time. The restaurant itself looks like a bar...but the food is great and worth a stop.

My wife and I visited the Sportsman Bar for Valentines day. The deal was two 12oz cuts of prime rib, salad bar, four jumbo shrimp (two per person) and two single serving bottles of wine for $30. The prime rib was very good, the jumbo shrimp were about as big as I have ever seen and the salad bar is awesome. The salad bar was more of a pasta bar than salad as the usual accoutrement for salad wasn't there (croutons, cucumbers, bacon bits etc) but the homemade pasta selections were excellent. I had a crab bowtie pasta that was made with real crab rather than the fake stuff you would normally find in this part of the country. The prime rib was more medium than medium rare (I always order rare or medium rare) but had excellent flavor so no biggie. I had the hash browns and a fresh baked roll as well. All in all an excellent meal and a great value. There were a few other couples we were with who eat here religiously and they said everything else on the menu is just as tasty and excellent. The service was a tad slow but not enough to get upset about. They were a bit busy but not enough to explain the slower service. Anyway I'm being picky but the service and the medium steak is why I opted for four stars instead of five. I will most definitely go back and tell others that this place overall is great!

I went here on a Friday night at 10, hoping to make friends. I was disappointed when I tried to open the door, and it was locked. I had a tea and some Takitos with me, so I went and sat on a nearby bench to snack. After a bit, a girl walked by. I got up and tried introducing myself. She walked straight to the bar, and started knocking on the bar window incessantly. She didn't stop knocking for 5-10 minutes. Finally, after what seemed quite a long time, someone came to the front door and unlocked it. Surprised, i followed her. When she got to the door, she turned to me, said, "I'm the bartender, and youre not allowed to come in". She then went inside. I checked the door and it was locked.I'd never been to the bar before, so I don't understand why they refused to serve me. Long story short, these people are crazy, and I don't recommend going here. Go to the Legion if you want to go out and drink in Gibbon.

Great prime rib on Saturdays but the place is very dated and run down. Time for a remodel.

3 miles of beautiful scenery off Exit 283 on I-80. Very local and excellent food. Plus a nice break from McDonalds, etc. Worth a detour -- and the original brick paved Lincoln Highway runs right by the front door as does the Union Pacific main line. We love this place! They make their own delicious cole slaw and pasta salad for the salad bar. Real home cooking and very reasonably priced. Do not be put off by the dive bar look of the exterior. This is a family friendly restaurant and well worth a visit. We stop there on every trip east or west on I-80.

Always enjoy the variety at the salad bar. I come for the fried chicken. Staff works hard to serve you.
