Southside Auto Tech

My car is...not even purring like a kitten. It's quiet as a little bunny! I took it to Southside Auto Tech because I'm new in town and the reviews looked good. (I have a 2005 Volvo, so not everybody has the right wrenches.)They were so thorough. They interviewed me in detail about issues and asked questions. My car was making the most horrible noises I've ever heard from a car...and I've killed a lot of cars. They gave me a ride home. Then Russ called to explain what was the matter and gave me an estimate. Russ called back when the car had been repaired. I'm fixed for winter now.

Stopped in while traveling through Lincoln with a check engine light. They not only diagnosed the issues but repaired my car the same day! Awesome service and a fair price.

Tom completed the needed repairs in a timely manner so we could get back on the road for our remaining 9 hour drive.Thank you thank you for being so awesome! Called to ask if they could replace a car battery and check the air filter. A few hours later was quoted $550 which included $230 for the battery, $200 labor to reprogram the car (said the battery would not properly recharge without a new code, "we have to even give it a new name!"), and $70 to replace the cabin filter (which I did not request), as well as additional diagnostics, which I did not request. I declined the service and was going to be charged $58 for checking the cabin filter, which I did not request, and moving my vehicle in and out of their garage. Cost dropped to $38 for testing the battery, which I did not request. The battery was tested (for free) the day before by BatteriesPlus and I knew the battery was not holding a charge - all of which I had discussed with Tom on my initial phone call. During the quote, Tom said it (battery and labor) was the "only game in town ". I declined any of the services he listed. When talking with the manager regarding my concerns, he replied "I need to keep the lights on somehow". Lesson learned, and I will never be back. Be very specific about the work NOT to be done, or they will include every fee they can come up with.

I can't say enough about how appreciative we are for the folks at Southaide Auto Tech. My wife and I were in the middle of a transcontinental move when our 2007 Volvo XC70 suddenly had problems with the turbocharger. By that point we were in western Nebraska with plans to stay in Lincoln. Our situation became precarious when the car started stalling whenever we came to a complete stop. While still on the road I began making a series of futile calls to various Volvo mechanics until I finally reached Southside Auto Tech. Although they too had a full schedule the following day - a day before a holiday - they agreed to work our car in. Within 90 minutes of my arrival the next morning, the technicians had our Volvo repaired and back to operating perfectly. I heartily endorse Southside Auto Tech to anyone needing trustworthy and reliable car service at a reasonable price.

I have an old, somewhat hard to find car - a Subaru SVX. After suffering for a couple years with a malfunctioning A/C system, I brought it into Southside on the recommendation of my mechanic. Two other shops had failed to properly diagnose the problem. Southside identified the problem right away, and was able to fix it on my second visit. Also, the price seemed quite reasonable for me.I will be bringing my car to Southside in the future for complex electronic and A/C work from now on. Great shop and service.
