South Branch Library

This library is small but mighty. Conveniently located at 27 & South, it has plenty of overflow parking thanks to the church next door. Thanks to the online Lincoln Library website, you can request any book, audiobook, or DVD to come to this (or any) location.

We had a great time at an event for the grandkids. Very clean and very friendly staff. Everything was well organized.

This is just one of the branches we frequent.  I'm not sure why, honestly.  The branch is very small, just one open square room, cleverly divided with furniture into various sections.  They have a surprisingly large selection of materials given the size.  A couple of the librarians are very friendly, helpful, and welcoming.  A couple are absolutely none of these things.  In fact, I was stunned by the rude interaction of one librarian with a sweet, quiet little girl, until she looked up and noticed me watching, probably with a look of shock and horror on my face!  Interesting how she turned on a dime to be helpful after this.  I guess she just doesn't given a hoot whether this girl continues to feel welcome and use the library.  Or me, after witnessing this.  I know I will avoid contact with her in the future.  :(The story times are not great.  A neighboring school brings their kids, but no one else attends regularly.  But, the guy who does them is really sweet.Another note, not just for this branch, the Lincoln Library system as a whole.  Wow!  The website is NOT user friendly.  There are so many different places to list events, etc that none of them are complete.  Perhaps, just one calendar of events that is complete would be better.  The library could add in events, story times, etc on fb, and other places with a link to the full calendar with more info on who the intended/appropriate audience is, complete info, etc.
