Great spot in downtown Shenandoah. The staff was very friendly and make a great recommendation for dinner. The grilled chicken was juice and perfectly cooked with two sides and a roll. Cold beer mugs with my bud lights wrapped up a great dinner. Highly recommend.

This week I tried the special 10 oz strip steak. The food came out unusually fast. Now that I think about it, I believe the steak was pre-cooked. I'm skeptical of food that has criss-cross grill marks on it. It tasted ok but I think I'm going to stick with the burgers.

Sheri's is a new casual dining restaurant in Shenandoah, IA. In addition to being in a location that once housed a part of Jack's Ltd., a motor freight salvage business owned and managed by my Uncle Everett Crouse, there have been a couple restaurants in the space in years past. I'd driven by Sheri's several time since opening a couple months ago, I always like to give a new restaurant time to get set up and rolling. Although their sign advertises hand pressed pork tenderloins (always an Iowa staple), Anne and I opted for their lunch special, Chili and a homemade Cinnamon Roll. Service was quick and friendly and, in a short time, we each had a steaming bowl of Chili with a pile of freshly shredded cheddar cheese on top. I was still stirring in the cheese as I saw Anne take a spoonful and immediately go for the salt shaker. Bad sign #1, I took a bite and immediately did the same, bad sign #2, I stirred and tried again, went for the pepper ,#3. I realize Chili walks a very fine line in the commercial food industry. People's tastes vary wildly from call out the fire department to "wake me up when it's lunchtime" . Sheri's Chili was dangerously close to the latter. We will be back to Sheri's without a doubt, the service was great and the space is absolutely charming! An open, spacious bar area and a large dining room in back are nicely decorated with the original brickwork exposed and a modern wood floor. The owners came out and talked to us and the service was spot on! Next time I'll try the breaded pork tenderloin or something else off their large, reasonably priced menu. Oh, the cinnamon roll? Wow howdy, it was the real deal!

Sadly, they are now closed. It was a great place and is missed in the community. **********************

Had a get together tonight and we all ordered something different. From the appetizers to the homemade Salisbury Steak and grilled salmon, our meals were perfectly prepared and delivered by an outstanding server. Drinks were kept full and we topped off our dinner with their specialty butter cake. Would give 10 stars. We'll be back!

This place was recommended to me for tacos. I'm not going to say by who as not to judge their taste but I will say I certainly can not recommend Sheri's for tacos. What they brought out was a meat emulsion with lots of olives, which do not belong on tacos, and plenty of orange cheese, which also does not belong on tacos, but the real topper was that everything was in fried flour tortillas. Yuck! Who ever heard of flour tortillas for tacos?! Maybe try light steamed corn tortillas with a bit of onion and cilantro and just a touch of white cheese at the most.Once I build my courage up enough to risk losing another meal I'll give this place another shot but I won't be trying to have the "tacos" again.

Every time I'm close to Shenandoah I try to stop and grab a NY STRIP here. Absolutely love it . Its always cooked to perfection. I've never had a bad experience here. There's a couple other places in town that I've eaten at but nothing compares to Sheri's. It's definitely one of the cleaner non bar type restaurants in Shanendoah.
