Second Street Repair

Second Street mechanics are awesome! I drove into Atlantic in a RAGBRAI support vehicle having a major transmission problem. The local Dodge dealer said they could not help me for several days, and recommended Second Street. I'm so glad they did! The Second Street mechanics fit me into their busy day and were able to quickly diagnose the problem and make a repair so I could continue on my way. They even gave me a cash discount. If I need auto or truck repair service in this area, I'm definitely going back. Very happy and grateful for their kindness and help. Also, their address is correct in Yelp but has them mapped in their old location. Use Google maps to get there.

Several years ago I had a blown engine. Called him up the morning of Jul 27. He said he would be there just after five to look at it. When he showed up on Aug 16, he said, "Yep! It's blown." And he towed it away saying that it would only be a couple of weeks to find a replacement and put it in. I got it back the day AFTER Thanksgiving. Since when did a couple of weeks turn into 3 months?Here it is this summer. It developed an oil leak, and when the engine got up to temperature, it smoked. Took it into another place to have it checked out. Turns out that this mechanic(?) that is getting 5 stars from others for little the jobs, just somehow can't figure out the big jobs. The used engine that he put into it had a hole in the valve cover. Did he replace it so there would be no problems? NNNOOO! He put TAPE on it so it wouldn't leak for a while and he could get his money!I am seriously considering about getting a lawyer!

Blew a tire on 1-80 and Scott at 2nd Street came to our rescue when AAA didn't! Super reliable and speedy service. Would 10/10 absolutely recommend Scott and his outfit to anyone in need of automotive repairs/service - especially if you're in a pinch!

Horrible experience, sold myself and multiple other locals used vehicles after they "rolled back" the odometer. Sold us a vehicle claiming it had 120k miles only to find out it actually had 220k. Absolute rip off company. I had been contacted by the Iowa department of criminal investigations regarding the vehicle purchased from Scott at second street repair. I wouldn't trust these guys if my life depended on it.

What a great small town we were blessed to break down close to... Traveling in our class c motorhome, we incurred muffler issues... One independent owner couldn't work on it, so they suggest Second Street, where Scott the owner took great care of our home on wheels...Many Thanks!!!
