I have stopped at this music store a number of times while in Omaha! It always has a great selection of the things a musician needs in dire straits... AKA Sticks, Strings, and other things!I always love Schmitt cause they cater to the band geek, the indie rocker, the metal maniac, or the concert pianist. Heck they even have batons for those who are conducting the orchestra! Nice staff, and clean store makes this a place you can count on if you are one who needs to rock in the Omaha area!

Area musicians, especially non-guitar players, have to be thankful for a store like Schmitt. It's just about the only place you can get repairs on your woodwind and brass instruments locally. Add in school band instruments and supplies, sheet music for beginners and professionals alike, enough guitar equipment to satisfy axe heads in a pinch plus a large showroom of pianos, and you have a centrally-located music store that's been serving Omaha for decades. There's also practice rooms on the lower level if you or your kids are interested in taking private lessons from local teachers. I took clarinet and saxophone lessons at Schmitt from Leonard Eby. As much as I hated going there with my brother and dad just about every Sunday for 10-plus years, the musical education Eby provided me with is invaluable and helped earn and keep first chair in the wind ensemble throughout high school. Not to mention build the foundation of a smalltime music career that has allowed me to play on the best stages of Omaha and travel from NYC to LA and play at international music festivals such as SXSW.Going in there yesterday to buy some clarinet reeds for the first time since the early 2000s reminded me of all this. I'm so glad Schmitt is still here. Hopefully it'll be here forever.

I have taken guitar lessons here for almost a year and a half. My instructor is excellent - just right for my learning style and musical tastes. I've spoken to other students with other instructors, and they were happy also. A lot bigger facility than it appears from the outside. Nice auditorium on the upper floor for recitals. Staff is friendly especially now that they've seen me every week for so long. Good selection of sheet music.

Schmitt Music is one of Omaha's premier music stores. They have everything you need from instruments, repairs, to music books. I trust Schmitt music more than any other music store in Omaha. They are honest and good people. I will not shop anywhere else!

I bought an instrument here for my kid. The clerk told me I could trade it in. I said "cool so if she quits band, I could trade it for a guitar or something?" The clerk says yeah. With that being the case I didn't mind buying new vs used. The other day I called about trading and turns out no that's not the case, I was lied to. I only give reviews when the business is dishonest because I feel others should know. Don't know much about music, maybe they're ok in that dept but I don't give business to liars so I won't be back.

Imagine being surrounded by some of the most talented faculty and students in the world in a small building on the Upper West Side: that is Schmitt Music. You're constantly being challenged to learn in a positive way. When you're not learning in class, you're learning from your fellow peers. Once you get the hang of how Schmitt Music operates, you'll be exposed to the plethora of performance opportunities you'd like to participate in that aren't even in your designated major. I'm studying as a mezzo-soprano in classical voice but I've already participated in contemporary music ensembles, jazz, piano master classes, and a string chamber group. It's impossible to be bored!

I just purchased a guitar from TC at Schmitt and could not be happier with the entire experience. I've been playing guitar for 15 years and have never bought a one new. Partially because of the experience I've had at music stores. Pushy salesman always turned me off to the idea of buying new. Walking into Schmitt I expected the same experience and was very surprised at how different an experience it was. They didn't have an extensive guitar collection, but they had a few Martins and I thought I'd try a couple. All of the sales staff were more than happy to let me play unbothered. I fell in love and the environment helped that significantly. TC offered a deal and when I said I wanted to compare, he assured me it would still be valid if I came back days later, and even offered to stay open late if I wanted to go compare at another store, which I did! Guitar Center could barely believe the deal Schmitt offered and I came running back after the experience I had there. I love helping the small guy, but at the end of the day, I need to save money. Schmitt made that happen for me and I'm very impressed with them for that as well as there demeanor and customer service. Thanks guys!

Staff is courteous & nice. I was greeted immediately & they were up front & honest in telling me they did not carry electric guitars in the store, which was the only reason I was there. So if you're looking for an electric guitar, this is not the place despite what the website says. They did have 3 Fender starter kits, that included a Squire & amp, but they are sealed shut & you can't get feel for the instrument. They do have a decent selection of acoustic guitars if that is your thing. I tried some, but their tags only have the price with no info or specs of the instrument. Again, staff was helpful, they just didn't have what the website says they do. I guess that's why guitar doesn't have its own tab on their website & is listed with "other instruments".

All I can say is WOW!! I have a daughter at Creighton -- we live in Dallas -- and she has played the French Horn for over 5 years. I wanted to buy her one since forever, but just rented from her schools. I knew Schmitt-- as I have bought 2 instruments from them when we lived in Omaha-- and they always had excellent customer service, neat store and top-notch repair service. Well, being that I couldn't be in Omaha to purchase the instrument with my cc and couldn't do it online because the French horn wasn't listed, I was on the phone with the store almost daily. Well, from Andrea, to Mary to David (and their credit dept/IT) and the store manager (his name escapes me!!), Schmitt actually ADDED the French horn to the online band section AND added TEXAS to the billing field. THUNDERSTRUCK!!! Takes a lot to surprise me, but daaaaang, this was way above and beyond. Still speechless. I made my purchase poste haste and my daughter will be picking it up soon. I have no words. Excellence at it's best. Thank you so very much!!
