I joined the Sarpy County YMCA recently, and I am very glad I did! I am very impressed with the schedule of group activities and the selection of equipment. You can expect to be greeted by friendly staff whenever you walk into the facility to have your membership card scanned. From there I usually stop into the locker room to store some belongings. The lockers require a small lock because of the angle of the latch. The locker room is well maintained. I attended a yoga class last week and found it to be a relaxing a challenging experience. I've done yoga on my own for the last few years, but I found Violet's class invigorating because she led us through some poses unfamiliar to me and was there to correct my form. Afterwards I felt energized but also felt like I'd had a good stretch throughout my body.

This is a great gym. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, a great pool, tons of classes, free daycare if taking a class, up to date machines. They even have financial aid if you can't afford full price.

Clean. Family friendly. Variety of classes. I wish they offered more water sports for 25/40 age groups.

Nice place if you are a runner and need to run the treadmill in the winter. Prices are far more affordable than that of a gym and you are not locked into a contract. What prevents me from adding a fifth star is that children are always running around without supervision. The kids run up and down the hall, go into the locker rooms and even into the workout area itself. Where are the parents and the staff?

If you're looking to work at the Sarpy County YMCA in a supervisory/managerial position and you're a woman, you'll get hired. I have always spoken the truth in everything I do and I give praise to a company when they're doing well, but will call out a company when there is a disservice, and the women who work at the YMCA will choose women for their supervisory positions the majority of the time. Just look at the supervisory positions there, 80% or more are women. I was very qualified for the Sports Director position back in 2016 (approx) and all the people I interviewed with were women, five to be exact. I have a Masters Degree in Leadership, two Bachelors degree (Physical Education/Sports Management and three associates degrees (Communication, Logistics and Management). I had two women ask me about my position in the Air Force and they were concerned that I would treat employees at the Y the same way I would treat military members because I was an E-9, alluding to the fact that I would yell at them. They never mentioned that I was overqualified. On my FB page, the Sarpy Y always mentions promotions and new management positions and I have never seen a man get hired for those. Women who complain about sexism in the job market and say how unfair it is are being hypocrites. All-in-all, positions aside, this YMCA is a great place to work-out and the recreation sports are top-notch.

I like this YMCA but the water in the pool is very cold. They say the water is around 86 degrees but it feels more like 70 degrees. So because of that I quit going there. When I was going there a lot of people complained about the water temperature and were not happy it was so cold.
