We love coming here. The lunch specials are great with awesome price. The gyozas are fantastic. I LOVE the oyster shot. The cooks at the grill are so funny but the entire staff is so kind.Funny story: a couple years ago my little guy grabbed some Wasabi while we were talking to the waitress bout the menu thinking it was green ice cream. He realized very quickly it wasn't. Our waitress sprung into action to help with milk and ice cream. He still remembers her for "saving his life". These people are seriously the best. We have never had a bad experience.

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is always fantastic! We usually go for lunch because they have good lunch specials. My favorite is the bento box. It has multiple customizable options. You get choices of protein,( panko, teriyaki, or katsu) plain or fried rice, appetizers, it comes with a few pieces of the California roll as well as their clear soup, which I adore. The soup is so simple yet so flavorful. The lunch hibachi is really great too. It comes with your choice of protein, lots of veggies, fried rice, soup and salad. The salads are pretty simple, they consist primarily of iceberg lettuce, and you have the option of ranch or ginger dressing. I recommend the ginger because it is infinitely better. The reason I gave four stars instead of five is because the service can be hit or miss depending on your server. They are all very nice, but sometimes they forget your soup or never come back by to check on you after they drop off the food, things like that. For the most part though, they do a great job!

We first visited Sakura Sushi and Hibachi with a big group of friends on a Saturday night. It was busy and bustling with patrons having a great time. We went back for my birthday with a smaller group, and it was just as fun and enjoyable. The restaurant entrance is on a side that has just a normal ordering style with tables and entrees you can choose from, but the real fun is definitely on the other side, which is the hibachi. At the hibachi, you get a choice of your proteins, and then the hibachi chef starts making the rice and veggies in front of you. Our chef was flipping some bits of veggies to the diners while he cooked, which was so fun.The chef next takes the list of the proteins each person chose around the table and SOMEHOW keeps it all straight, while it's all cooked right in front of you. Our favorite proteins were the salmon and steak! The fried rice is super good, and you also are served a small dipper dish of the Yum Yum sauce which goes well with the rice and every one of the proteins.I was there for my birthday and our chef kept trying to offer me shots of the sake, but I was driving, so my husband took the shots (and many of them). It was hilarious and again - so fun.The two times we've went, we had two different chefs, and both were excellent - so funny with jokes and little comments to keep us entertained while they cooked. And they are great cooks, too - all of the proteins we've ordered over our two visits were expertly cooked and delicious.I definitely recommend a visit to Sakura Sushi and Hibachi, especially for a special event or with a big group of friends, because it's definitely a fun experience and having friends or family with you to enjoy it with just adds to the fun!

We decided to stop here for dinner on Black Friday during our cross country road trip. The restaurant is located in the corner of a shopping center on the border between Iowa and Nebraska. Plenty of parking in the lot. The restaurant looks small at first glance but is actually quite large inside. Upon entering they ask if you are there for regular dining or hibachi. Regular dining is in front where there are tables and booths while hibachi is done in the back. We chose regular dining as the theatrics of the hibachi might've been a bit too noisy for our baby. Seems like the vibe of the hibachi area was very lively and fun from what I overheard though! We ordered the soft shell crab appetizer, love boat sushi for 2, shrimp fried rice, and seafood udon. Overall, the food was good. Being Japanese American and from California where good Asian food is everywhere, I was pleasantly surprised because while not the best, everything was better than I expected. The soft shell crab appetizer is 2 crabs cut in half (4 pieces) fried in a katsu style with katsu sauce and was good. Love boat sushi did not come in an actual boat (to my disappointment, lol) but there was significant effort put into the presentation. All of the items were decent. Wasabi was neon green colored but surprisingly packed a bit of a punch whereas most fake wasabi tends to be quite weak. Shrimp fried rice was pretty good with a garlic flavor and came with some sort of mayo based sauce on the side (we tried it and it wasn't bad but didn't eat it with our rice). Seafood udon was tasty and came with shrimp, scallops, fish cakes, and imitation crab. Not sure why they added the imitation crab as it brought the dish down and there's already sufficient seafood. Overall the dish was tasty but a bit too salty. The entrees come with either a side of soup or salad. Since we ordered a lot, we were able to get 2 soups and 2 salads. Was expecting miso soup but it was a clear broth with some mushrooms, green onion, and those fried French onions. Not sure if they usually put those in or if they were just left over from thanksgiving green bean casserole lol. I'll just say that it was interesting. Ginger salad dressing was good. Service was decent except at the end the waiter kept asking us if we wanted boxes when we were still eating which gave the impression that they were trying to get us out of there. I get it if you are about to close but there was still time left before closing and people were still getting seated so we weren't holding them up. Noticed a good amount of baby high chairs and booster seats but no baby changing table in the restroom. Just FYI if you have a baby like I do.

Two of my teacher friends and I met at Sakura for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately, which was nice. We had the choice of sitting at one of the hibachi tables, or at a booth. We chose a booth. I have been here previously and had the hibachi. It was excellent! The food was tasty and the presentation entertaining. As I said, this time we ordered off the menu. For appetizers, we had edamame and cheese wontons. I only had the edamame, which was very good, but my friends said the cheese wontons were fantastic and reminded them of crab Rangoon. For our meal, we each ordered different sushi rolls. I ordered the S1- Crunch Roll (Spicy tuna & tempura flakes w. masago on top), and Sexy Mama Roll (Fresh Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail Fried Asparagus, Masago, Scallion, Inside Top w. Pepper Tuna Avocado & Eel Spicy Mayo Wasabi Mayo Sauce Soy Paper). Both rolls were delicious! I enjoyed the crunch of the crunch roll, plus I love spicy tuna and masago. The Sexy Mama roll was crazy good. I am still thinking about it a week and a half later!

Nice ambiance and friendly servers. We came for dinner and were seated immediately. The sashimi appetizer was fresh and in generous size, and the sushi roll was very tasty. My favorite rolls were miss a roll and Naruto roll. The sauce was full of flavor, but overpowering at all. I did not expect to find such a nice sushi place in council bluffs. It turned out to be more than amazing :)In summary, I would recommend this place for sushi. My only complaint was that the sushi seating area was right next to hibachi, where often times had birthday parties or special celebrations and could be noisy.

Underwhelmed this trip. Was so looking forward to a spicy shrimp roll and our bento boxes. He did not ask what we wanted with the boxes. We had soup, love the ginger salad. Got our boxes. They were good. Getting ready to leave and still waiting for our spicy shrimp roll. We saw our waiter 3 times and didn't seem too happy to be working today. Husband was actually going to complain and couldn't get anyone to speak with him. Very disappointed!

I don't go here enough! The service is always good as well as the food. I mostly have been here for the sushi and it doesn't disappoint. Years ago we made a reservation for the hibachi grill and had a blast and left stuffed. I recommend their margaritas with an upgraded tequila. One should never drink anything with the name Montezuma on it :| Made with Patron and it's one of the nicest margaritas I have ever had and that's saying a lot.
