Russ's Market - 33rd & Hwy 2

I stopped here to get a couple groceries. I have a very busy week and do not always have time to find decent restaurants. This store is a great grocery store that has everything I came for.

The only reason I give 4 stars is because the prices aren't quite the best in town and their meat selection is slim: the staff is friendly and everything is really easy to find. Their alcohol selection is top notch for a grocery store! Would absolutely recommend Russ's I anyone!

This is the BEST grocery store in Lincoln. The prices are much lower than stores like HY Vee and the service is better. Great ad specials, clean, best bakery and deli in town by far and local Nebraskan owned. There store brand Best Choice is really good and there staff are wonderful. Be sure and get a Russ's card so you can earn seeds for free items and they take manufactors coupons with no issues as well. There Fried Chicken is the BEST I have ever tasted. They even have a all you can eat Salad bar.

I emailed a complaint to their corporate office more than a month ago and never received a response. Because of one certain employees terrible/pathetic actions I no longer shop at any B&R store. The corporate office needs to start sending their store level employees to seminars about "How to be professional in the work place."Thinking of applying for a job here? Don't bother, they haven't a clue how to treat their own employees either. The employee discount is crap and the pay was terrible (at least a few years ago). When you do the appropriate thing and go to your manager with a concern, they act as if they care and then nothing ever happens.

I called in at 9:30 this morning to order flowers for a friend in the hospital. I gave all the information. And then the staff member said that she had flowers in a box there, but she wouldn't have time today to open it and make a small arrangement with roses. What like seriously you got six hours left in your shift and you don't have time to open a box of flowers and make an arrangement. I don't know maybe she was slammed. Anyway, went somewhere else and got excellent service!!

There was 1 checker today. They installed several self-checkouts and reduced their staff. I use self checkout if I have only a couple of things but if I am shopping for my weekly groceries, I expect to have someone check and bag my groceries. I don't work there! Their excuse was that someone called in sick. If that's the case, they need to hire more people so they can cover when someone calls in sick or is on vacation.

I've been using this market for a long time, and I am pretty happy with the service and the choice of produce. However, there are a few annoying things:1. a regular "Greek gods" yogurt is almost always missing. All they offer is fat-free yogurt which I hate, or honey yogurt which has a lot of sugar in it. I have to go to Open Harvest just because I need a regular Greek Gods yogurt.2. They used to sell fresh olives which I loved, but not any more. I have to go now to other markets to buy them.3. A few years ago they were selling wonderful fresh French baguettes. But then they started to put them in plastic bags which spoil bread completely. Everything else in their bakery is not good. I don't buy bread in their bakery anymore.

Customer service is almost always awesome! (One issue one time doesn't detract from everyone else doing a good job.) Their 10 for $10 is a staple for my family, so are the daily cheese sample! Wish they had a better selection but I'll take this over Wal-Mart any day.
