I prefer an Orange Pumpkin to a Rose Blumkin, unless you're talking about PSL (at Starbucks) in which I prefer DSL. Ahem.Pretty beautiful old theatre in Omaha just south of the downtown, which is absolutely gorgeous. One of my favourite places in the area to catch a show although the outdoor venue which is brand-new a little bit to the NW is actually better. This is a lovely old theatre and I love performing in these kinds of places, I haven't performed here yet unfortunately... although I have been in this place and I love watching shows or walking around inside old venues like this, which I have done here.

This is a really easy review for me to write. This place is awesome. From the productions they put on to the classes they offer to the community, The Rose is truly a local treasure. I will be honest, many of the plays they put on for children are for younger kids, so we don't go to many any more since our boys are now 14 and 12 and wayyy too cool for that. But, we still enjoyed a couple of the ones we have attended. My youngest son has taken several classes at the Rose and he loves them. As parents, we love seeing him be able to express his creativity in such an accepting and developmental setting. The instructors are all quite good and go above and beyond to make the experience great for each kid. I can't say enough complimentary things about the staff who teach the classes. Finally, the main theater where the productions take place is gorgeous; worth the price of admission alone. On the day of productions, it's a first come first serve seating situation so if you want primo seats, get there early. But there really isn't a bad seat in the house. If you've not been, go soon. If you have a child who is into acting, singing, or other artistic endeavors, you might want to check into their class offerings. You are supporting a worthy organization and providing a great opportunity for your child. You can't lose.

Great!I love that this theater is completely family oriented. From the cookies and drinks they serve during intermission to the choices they have. I think the cast and crew are wonderful and really develop a rapport with the audience throughout their performances. Both shows I watched, Dr. Seuss and Mary Poppins were fun for the entire family. Rose Blumkin is becoming one of my favorite theaters to enjoy a musical!! If you have yet to bring your family to this theater you'll have to check this place out for your next play!

I've been fortunate enough to enjoy two shows here. A Dr. Seuss one and the most recent Mary Poppins feature. Each time I sat on the balcony, and though some may consider this to be too far or maybe not the best seats in the house, to me, they were. I felt the theater was small enough to still maintain an intimate feel with the cast and the rest of the audience, while at the same time being a bit further away to feel less crowded than below. The Rose is well maintained and the staff here are friendly and happy. I love how they offer cookies and drinks for sale during intermission. I didn't know about this fun fact until I saw Mary Poppins!! It's such a wonderful place to see great plays especially when you have little ones. I went to see Mary Poppins with my mom, niece, and sister and we had so much fun together. If you ever want to see a play and you have some family with you I highly recommend The Rose! The quality of the shows they offer as well as the amazing customer service and fun extras are great, the tickets prices aren't too bad either!

We attended Elf just before Christmas, and the kids loved the show! The actors did a great job and the rest of the staff was friendly, helpful, and dressed very festive! It was a little odd that they sold holiday props and cookies during intermission (that was a little random) and they didn't allow quite enough time at the start to get the sizable crowd to their seats but aside from that, a great day at the children's theater.

If you have small children the Rose is an excellent place in Omaha to check out a children's show. We have seen two now, the very hungry Caterpillar and charlottes web. Both were very different but both were phenomenal. The actors, stage and props were very impressive. If you do not have a membership the seating is on a first come first serve basis. We do not have a membership and attended a sold out show but were still able to get excellent seats 15 minutes prior to the start of the show. Even in the balcony you can still see the stage and performance very clearly. The theater alone has tons of ornate decor to look at and if you catch an evening show I love it that the ceiling lights up like a beautiful starry night. The Rose is definitely a place we will continue to visit in the future and I highly recommend it for others as well.

I remember when the Rose opened. I was ten, and shortly after I started taking dance classes there. The staff was amazing, and I got to perform in their first dance production, "Broadway Town."Twenty years later, and their building, stage, and seating are still top notch. They've kept it up very well, and that's always nice to see. Their shows are always great, and it's even fun to audition for them. I highly recommend taking in one of their shows sometime.

I have taken my granddaughters here several times for different plays over the years, and all of them except one were very enjoyable. Depending on the play it either appeals to the four and five-year-olds or the 11 and 12-year-olds. We usually sit in the upstairs area and have a clear view of the stage. They even have toddler seats they will loan out, to give the smaller kiddos an extra lift. The main downside is the parking, as it is pretty common at downtown venues.

On my quest to find fun things to do in Omaha, I came across a billboard for Mary Poppins the Musical at the Rose Blumkin Center. I absolutely love Mary Poppins and knew I just had to see it for the third time! There are a lot of great things about this place. First, their ticket prices are really cheap. I saw Mary Poppins for $20, which is such a steal. Even the top seats only go for $25, which seems crazy to me. I'm obviously still in sticker shock after having lived in Chicago, New York, and St. Louis. The place itself is really cool. I loved all of the Greek statues and columns. I also loved the ceiling, which is meant to look like a star-filled sky. The seats were pretty comfortable, and to be honest, there isn't a bad seat in the house. While the actresses and actors aren't the best I have ever seen, I still thought they were very talented and definitely worth every penny I spent. I hear they're doing The LIttle Mermaid next June, and I most certainly will not miss that!I'd say the only downside is that a lot of their shows are ones I have never heard of...but that's okay since they do offer some of my Disney favorites. In sum, definitely check out their calendar and give it a go!

We recently enjoyed a performance of Rudolph with our little one. It was performed by children and teens/young adults. You could tell everyone put a lot of effort into their performances. We also thought the theatre itself was really neat. It definitely has an Old World look to it. A few things that I think could be improved on is informing the audience of where the bathrooms are located prior to the show. I found a bathroom by following someone else downstairs to the basement. Luckily that is where they were headed, as I had no idea. Lastly, although the theater is beautiful, the armrests need refurbishment. My seat's armrests (as well as the rest of my party's seats) had several nailheads sticking up, so that your sweater or other delicate fabric would get snagged repeatedly. Other than these small issues, we enjoyed our time together as a family.
