If you want to see a movie in town, this is your theater!! We have been in town the last few months and checked reviews here and thought it was not as nice as the mall theater. We were wrong!!This theater has wonderful leather reclining seats, more concessions choices, much more candy options than the other theater, and alcohol sales as well. Not only do they have beer on tap, but frozen slushees with alcohol like frozen jack and coke. I was much happier with this downtown theater and can't wait to go back!

Wow really sad. There were a group of kids that were clearly movie hopping, you know where you pay for 1 movie then jump into other movies for free. Then near the end of our movie several employees came in and started talking so loudly that we had a hard time hearing our movie!!!! My wife used the restroom twice and both times found a group of young boy's hiding out in there!!!! Also my seat was broken. The heat came on all by itself then wouldn't turn off. Lucky the place was empty so I just grabbed another seat

My boyfriend took me to see a movie at this location. It's clean and family friendly decently priced on snacks. The staff were courteous and very helpful. Definitely recommend if your in the market for a movie night.

Prices are a tad bit high, but on Tuesdays every movie is $5. That's when I go see movies 95% of the time. They have a rewards program. You can earn free concessions and movies. That's pretty cool. There's ALWAYS LINES! To buy tickets, for the concessions. It's like they don't have enough employees. On a crazy busy day like $5 Tuesdays you'd think they'd have a full staff, but they never do. Make sure you come a good 20min early to wait in lines, especially if you want something to snack on.Bathrooms are really long and narrow but they're clean. They have a few arcade games and large cardboard cutouts of current movies for pictures and stuff. That's kinda cool. And the lobby has tables and benches if you need to wait around. Theater chairs are nice. They even rock a little bit and very nice handicap seats...if people don't sit in them who don't need them. (I've had to use a walker and a cane recently and it makes me SO mad when I have to climb steps because people sit in the handicap seats. Grr.) They have nachos, pizza, pretzels, and ice cream now. I've only had pop, popcorn, and candy here but that's cool they have options. And their pop machine is SO fun! It has like every flavor under the sun and you can add flavor syrups. Raspberry Sprite, here I come! Prices are expensive for food, but 2$ small sodas and small popcorns on Tuesdays. Plus they do coupons. They also show specialty movies now and then. I love that! Like they had Grease for the 40 or 50th (I can't remember) anniversary and I guess I'm going to Karate Kid next week. Haha SO much better than the other movie theater in town. Plus it's downtown. Right by bars and restaurants.

Lots of price increases in the past few years. Parking is also becoming terrible to find. The service is usually always good however they seem to frequently be understaffed during peak times. This used to be the best theater in town before AMC remodeled the mall theaters. If the Promenade can overhaul their seats and get staffing levels up I think they could easily become the best movie destination in town. Especially with the prime location in the heart of historic 4th street! New hotel being built across the street and a new brewery to open next door in the next year or so.

Here is the thing. The Promenade is the best theater in Sioux City. So I can't give it a horrible review. If you are in Sioux City and need to go the movie in Sioux City, this is where you should go. (The other new-release theater in Sioux City is the Carmike, and that is like going to a movie in stinky dungeon, and the Rivera is a second run theater where at least 80% of the seats are completely broken.) That said, the Promenade is not a 'nice' theater by any objective standard. Before I talk about the negatives, I'll note the positives. The seats are okay, and the auditoriums are large. The theater does a relatively good job of keeping up with what movies it shows, and the company that owns the Promenade has a good rewards program. But that is about it. Onto the negatives. The first, probably biggest issue, is staff supervision. The staff people at the concession stand will serve you a bag full of burned old maid pop-corn kernels and it will never occur to them to make fresh popcorn. Neither the bathrooms nor the auditoriums are rigorously cleaned throughout the day. (Nor are the self serve soda dispensers.) If you go to a later show on the weekend, all areas will be quite dirty. Moreover, it does not appear that anyone ever does a 'deep clean' of the seats. As far as enforcement of rules, there is none. I am an avid movie goer and have literally seen hundreds of shows at the Promenade since it opened in the aughts, and I have never once seen the staff intervene with a movie goer who was being a distraction. People can talk, text, call, argue, or otherwise cause a ruckus during a showing and no one will ever say a word to them. I have even seen an actual fist-fight occur in the lobby without a staff person intervening. On two occasions just this year, the staff has failed to turn the lights off during a show. At a late showing of Selma, the movie abruptly stopped about forty minutes in. When the staff was informed of the issue, they restarted the movie from the beginning and we all had to re-watch the first forty minutes. Just this past weekend - Star Wars release weekend - the ticket taker was MIA during seating for the six o'clock show. I stood by and waited for about five minutes, before just heading into the auditorium. Management there is just a mess. So, if you are coming from say Omaha, which has become a mecca for nice modern theaters, be prepared for disappointment.

My sister knows all the tricks to having fun on a budget. When planning our schedule during a recent visit, Tuesday was movie day. That's because it's $2 popcorn and soda day at Promenade. We also got senior matinee admission for only $5, which is generously offered to anyone over 60. Okay, so I'm only 59 and ¾. I fudged just a little for the exhilaration of feeling like a kid again, when I'd sneak into a second show at the Orpheum Theatre on Saturdays. But $7 for a movie plus popcorn and soda? What a deal! The place was packed with senior citizens and retirees. I looked around and thought, "This is my future." If I lived in Sioux City, I'd be camping out on Tuesday at Promenade Cinemas.

The promenade staff was completely unfriendly when we attended this theatre 4/12/18. Customer service is big for me and I honestly didn't even want to see a movie at this theatre after the sh**y customer service... HOWEVER my husband and I have 3 kids and I had been looking forward to seeing a movie for weeks and we had already paid for a sitter. I cant wait until AMC remodels their theatre because I will not step foot In the promenade EVER again.. SO disappointing, so overprices, so unprofessional, and such TERRIBLE customer service... I wouldn't recommend this theatre to anyone unless you absolutely have to see a movie in Sioux city. NEVER AGAIN. By the way im not one of those jerks that only leaves poor reviews when someone upsets me.... BUT I do like to warn people before they get themselves into something that is just going to ruin the fun time that they had planned. I will ALWAY leave a review when there is outstanding service and rarely have to leave bad reviews but this was BAD BAD ! Hope this review keeps some of you good paying customers away. TIP- if you are planning to spend money on a movie date take a trip up to Omaha. Their AMC theatre serves food to you in the theatre as well as drinks. They have recliners and they are hands down one of the most relaxing places to go! What better than to feel at home at a movie theatre !!!

If you are into an audience that smokes marijuana in the theater, that is loud and obnoxious, and people that make out in front of you, then this is the place for you!!!!! I've been to this theater plenty of times because it is better than the Southern Hills theater, but I am done with going out to movies in this city, truly sad.
