Wow, I've never been to a vineyard where every wine tasted and smelled the same. To top it off, they all tasted like Portuguese moonshine. The old man behind the counter didn't care much for us or for his own wine. "You can hate it if you want, I don't care", he tells us. Thank you good sir.. where can I spit this out?Wine is served in tiny plastic medicine cups and you can taste as many as you want for free. Here's a hint: you can keep tasting and hoping, but they don't get any better..On the plus side, the grounds are lovely and if you enjoy the taste of medicine, this would be a great place to go wine tasting.

Husband and I decided to venture out of Lincoln to visit this winery and online and their large sign out by their driveway showed they were open until we pulled up to the place and there was a sign on the door that stated they were closed, it appeared they were outside tinkering around, so I guess they didn't feel like working that day... :/

Can't even really give this stars. I live in Nebraska and have tried much of the local wine here and in Western Iowa. I can't say I like most of it, but thought that just might be the type of grapes that can grow in this region. I have found that much of it has a "chemical" taste, and this was the worst. James Arthur and Deer Springs, both near Lincoln, are far superior. I respect the guy for working so hard, but the wine is pretty awful. Beautiful location, though they don't make use of it. There are a couple of tables next to the parking area, but otherwise it is all in a pre-fab building. Wish I could support their efforts, but do not want people to waste their time driving out there to be very disappointed.

Orville was a great host. Beautiful scenery and above average wine for Nebraska. I call that a great way to spend an afternoon.

Orville is great and it is a beautiful winery. After many years working in the wine industry myself, I can tell you and Orville would say as well - you know what you like when you taste it. Not every wine is for everyone. He doesn't have cheap, over-sweet sugary crap some people call wine. And, he uses all stainless steel while producing which impacts the taste as well. He has ranges of sweet to dry reds and the Edelweiss is quite pleasant. I think that more sophisticated wine drinkers, of any age over 21, can enjoy the very cool local winery here in NE! Prime Country is a hidden gem!
