We had a horrible experience with Prairie Home Builders when we purchased a spec home from them. I came across a review on here that almost exactly described our experience with them. Poor customer service, arrogant attitude, unprofessional. We actually had one of their representatives use expletives toward us during the final walk through. We almost backed out the day of closing because of the lack of quality of the build and their resistance to fix areas of poor workmanship. Had the housing market been better and our need to get into a house in a short time frame-I am certain we would have walked away. There are too many great builders in this community to waste your time on Prairie.

My experience with this home builder was as bad as could be. Arrogance, Unprofessional Conduct and Low Quality Work can be expected. EVERY thing they did as warranty work had to be redone by professionals. There are other home builders that are not this way. I would check them out and stay as far away from Prairie as you can. They will lure you in with good communication and talk of all the great things they will do for you,,, Then you sign on the dotted line and give them a deposit and all of a sudden you are all on your own.

Best builder in Lancaster County. All builders say they have a warranty, but Prairie actually keeps their word. Their full time warranty manager shows up when he is supposed to and even the owner will come out himself and help take care of more complicated issues. Top notch quality in every facet of the build.

We used Prairie to build our house and just moved in June 2020. Our house is absolutely beautiful and turned out great! The real estate agent that helped us was Aaron Bowers and we give him an A+++! We emailed him over 50 times (actually counted) and he always treated us professionally and never made us feel like a nuisance! You may request to use him because he was on his A game at all times. We were VERY needy clients and kind of micro managed the whole time. We were very involved and wanted to know what was going on pretty much the whole time. We definitely admit we probably were a pain but the house turned out really beautiful and we are very satisfied with the end result. A couple pieces of advice if you are considering building: 1. Plan to spend at least 10% more on upgrades as you go through the process. The upgrades are well worth it but we didn't necessary understand this when starting the process. We probably went over close to 15% but they do look very nice in the end.2. It is stressful building a house from scratch but just trust the process that it will get done (even though sometimes it doesn't seem that way).3. Take your time deciding what you really want because you can't change your mind once the process starts. We wanted to add a single window on one side of our house to let in more light, wanted to upgrade the front door to add in light, wanted to add a fan on back patio, wanted to upgrade the upstairs bathroom counter top (actually turned out nice anyways) and was told no each time. It was too late in the process to make any changes even though it seemed like it would be an easy change to us. 4. There is a good chance you will not have sod when you move in! It may not be a big deal to some but for us with a dog and 3 small children, it was not very fun. Not having a yard during COVID for the first 3 weeks is NOT fun (hopefully we get it soon or we may be in the 4-5 week range) especially since the pools have limited capacity. We had a few bumps in the road with communication in the end but overall we are happy with the service from Prairie. And again our house is really nice and we have received so many compliments on it. :) Thank you Prairie for a job well done!

We had nothing but problems with Prairie Homes Builders. Craftsmenship, customer service, respect...these are all foreign concepts to them. There were so many issues that I'm sure we didn't even find them all. But we will once things start breaking and falling apart.

It all started when my town home was signed to be built and done by June 2013. They didn't even break ground until late August of 2013 and I wasn't able to move in until Jan 2014. As stated in our contract they were supposed to have done my sod, sprinkler system, and full privacy fence by March 2014. They haven't even started working on it yet. I was recently told they were having issues with the "fence people" and that is what is taking so long. They told my neighbors that they were having problems with the "sod people". I am tired of having to call them for this issue and now I feel like they aren't being honest with me. I do not want to have to water brand new sod in the middle of summer. I never get any straight answers when I call them. I have talked to Randy and Rick with Prairie Homes and they are rude and I never get any resolution with them. There are still things that I marked down to be fixed when I did my walk through, before I signed all my papers, that still haven't been done. I was supposed to get a new front door due to a large dent and now they will only patch it. I have a large dent in my garage door frame and they won't give me a date as to when this will be fixed. If I do need something fixed it has to be during the day before 4pm. I work until 3:30pm and am a single mother. I am not able to leave work to allow them in to fix things. I had to leave them a key under my door mat so they could let them selves in. I am not comfortable with them in my house when I am not home. When I call the office, the receptionist is very rude and short. I am extremely upset with this company and would not recommend them to anyone. They are always behind, taking short cuts and are never willing to give me any answers.
