Porky Butts is an Omaha gem. Can't say enough about this place. Whenever I come to visit from California, this is on the top of my list of places to visit. Due to scheduling and because we have been here before when we were turned away during operating hours because they were sold out of meat. Can you believe that? Dine in and take out orders wiped them out for the rest of the evening. So this time, I arrived before they opened. Oh snap!!!My go to is Texas Poutine. Handmade chips topped with queso, beef brisket, pulled pork, crumbled bacon, green onions and drizzled with BBQ sauce. You can replace the chips with fries for $1+. Ok, Porky Butts, until next time. See ya. Ok, bye.

Our post-Valentine's adventure finally brought us to Porky Butts BBQ--a spot we'd been meaning to try forever. The stars aligned, and we pulled into a packed parking lot. Fortunately, most people were waiting on to-go orders, so we didn't have to fight for a table.Since we're no amateurs (and I never walk into a restaurant without scoping out the menu first), I knew exactly what I wanted. The staff was hustling, with a sea of paper tickets hanging up, but we were greeted with a smile and asked what they could make fresh for us--major points for that!We ordered BBQ Boudin Balls, a Rib Plate with Brisket Chili and Potato Salad, and a Two-Meat Plate with Mac & Cheese and Apple Slaw. Oh, and two sodas--Coke Zero on tap (bless!). Total bill: $56--pretty reasonable considering the time and effort that goes into smoked meat. The sauce lineup--Mild, Sassy, and Fiery--was put to the test immediately. I wish they provided chips to sample them instead of me resorting to using my finger, but hey, whatever works. Mild and Sassy were nearly identical, and while Fiery had some heat, spice lovers might find it a little tame. Our BBQ Boudin Balls arrived quickly but without plates--just a tiny tray. BBQ is messy, and these little guys weren't the most structurally sound. That said, they had a smoky, burnt flavor that I actually enjoyed. Still, I'd probably go for a different appetizer next time. Now, onto the main event. Our plates arrived with all the fixings--pickles, pickled onions, and a giant piece of cornbread (complete with butter and honey). MVP of my plate? The catfish. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and absolutely perfect with the little tartar sauce/Tabasco concoction I whipped up. The pork was solid, but the catfish stole the show, so I didn't give it much attention. As for the sides:Mac & cheese - Cheesy but a little bland, even after a hit of salt and pepper.Apple slaw - Soggy and flavorless; wouldn't get it again.Cornbread - Sweet, cake-like, but served cold. Warming it up would have taken it to the next level.Brisket chili - I stole a bite from my husband's plate, and wow--definitely ordering that next time! All in all, it was a fantastic way to celebrate with my Valentine. Porky Butts BBQ lived up to the hype--some hits, some misses, but I'd happily go back to explore more of the menu!

A good BBQ joint can be hard to find in Nebraska, but this spot is an absolute gem. We've only ordered carryout so far--twice--but both times the experience was fantastic. I'm pretty sure it was the same guy who helped us both times, and he was genuinely pleasant to speak to, which made the whole process even better. We ordered one of the platters that comes with two meats--our picks were pulled pork and burnt ends--along with a half rack of ribs. Everything was flavorful, tender, and clearly made with care. The burnt ends had just the right amount of smoky caramelization, and the pulled pork was juicy and packed with flavor. The ribs were perfectly cooked, with the meat falling off the bone. They also provided both sweet and spicy BBQ sauces, and both were absolutely delicious. The sweet sauce was rich and tangy, while the spicy one had a bold kick that didn't overpower the flavors of the meat. Both sauces were robust and paired perfectly with the smoky meats. The portions are generous, and the sides we've tried (mac and cheese and coleslaw) were just as good as the meats, rounding out the meal beautifully. For a part of the country where BBQ isn't exactly the star of the culinary scene, this place delivers authentic, mouthwatering BBQ that's worth coming back for again and again!

This was recommended by a local to us and it was probably the best Omaha joint we tried! Portions are big, so beware! Burnt ends were delish -- super juicy and soft. Highly recommend! I tried the 1 meat plate as it seemed to have the most variety of options you can try for a single serving.Easy for dining as well. You walk up to the counter to place your order, sit down at any table, and they bring your order to you. Good for bigger groups too. Lots of free parking in the parking lot. Staff was awesome! Must try when you're in Omaha!

This place was delicious! The environment was clean and spacious with plenty of sitting room. You order at the counter which was very easy and smooth without a long wait. The menu had a variety of items that were reasonably priced and covered all the essential and best barbecue items. We ordered a platter to share and it was delicious. We loved all of the sides we ordered and the meat was cooked excellently and well flavored. The cornbread was the perfect finisher and had a great texture with just enough sweetness . I loved all the options for sauces on the table as well. Overall we got plenty of food for the price and all left very satisfied.Would highly recommend for good BBQ

I have been disappointed the last couple of times I have been here. it has been over several months time. I have noticed a fall off in the taste of the Q. This time it was the ribs. The color was off - not dark enough as if pulled early. Then the ribs were tough and not so flavorfull as usual. Same for the brisket. I know everyone can have an off day but this is the same for my last couple of visits. Has anyone else had similar experiences? The service was excellent as always.
