This is one of my favorite places on a Friday or Saturday Night! They have good specials and a really good salad bar! They are always busy so make sure you call ahead but they do a great job of getting tables in and out allowing for more room! Once you're done with dinner go next door to Tin Lizzie's and get a drink! Such a cool little place for such a small town!

Local eatery with friendly staff and good food. Full bar and salad bar available. Sidewinder fries with cheese sauce are a must have. Salad bar is smaller but everything on it was fresh and flavorful.

Service was great, prices were very reasonable, lunch portion sizes were perfect. My boyfriend & I split the cheese curds / onion rings as an appetizer - both great. Then we split the chicken tender basket with sidewinders, tried their hot, honey mustard, and jalapeño mango sauces. Would recommend everything we tried - truly had really good flavor & will visit again if we're ever passing through. Very clean and nicely updated restaurant with cool history pictures of the small town.Note: We saw another review that said this place has the best philly outside of philly which was the reason we stopped, however this is only a special on random days.

We were excited to try Pioneers on a Friday night. The building remodel is beautiful! We love the touches of country decor - just the perfect amount and vibe. We were also very impressed with the amount of space they have. There is a separate huge room that is great for large group meals or meetings. We sat in a spacious dining room, and there was also a smaller bar area. We had the prime rib and the ribeye. We inhaled both, and were so happy with the flavor, the cooking of the meat, and the amount of food that we got. The prime rib serving made our eyes bulge out - it was huge and so good! We are happy to see such a great restaurant in this small town and will definitely be making the drive back soon.

Came here last night with family and really enjoyed it! You can tell by looking around that a lot of love went into decorating this place. It's very cute! Nice cocktails and lovely staff. They even put up with my silly ornery father. He's always joking around with servers and their ability to play right back with him always scores points! The salad bar is awesome. Simple much like the menu and had homemade ranch very much recommended. We also tried both the cheese curds and cheddar cubes as appetizers. Surprisingly the curds beat out the cubes, but I think it was because of the thick breading on the cheddar cubes. Curds are battered, and I tend to like only a thin coating on my cheese balls so likely just a personal preference! All 5 of us liked our entrees! Two of us got ribeye med rare, and they were great. One of us got steak sandwich but wished he would have just gotten the steak after seeing ours. Chicken bacon sand was good. Grilled chicken dinner was just ok unfortunately as there wasn't much to make it stand out. They did however make sure it was a decent portion. Thanks for a nice time with family! We will be back!

First place we stopped on our drive was packed. Decided to drive a bit further and stopped here. So glad we did. Ate on the back deck and it was very nice. We had a cheeseburger, regular burger, the breaded tenderloin sandwich and an order of the sidewinder fries. Burgers were cooked perfectly and the tenderloin was delicious. The fries are steak fries cut with a twist. Really good! They don't do desserts, but they recommended the creamery down the street. Delicious. This may become our new stop when we drive to Colorado.

I was thoroughly impressed with a recent visit to Pioneers Pub & Grub. First off, the background of this place is fascinating and the owners have really embraced the history of Casey, IA. A lot of time and love went into this establishment, with vintage photos, renovation pictures, etc. The result is a very warm and inviting space, and I suspect people come from miles away to enjoy it.The food is excellent. I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries, and everything came exactly as I expected. The appetizers were also on point, and while rather simple, our group gobbled up the combo plate (cheddar nuggets, breaded mushrooms, jalapeno rings, and onion rings). Others in the group had a steak, a chicken sandwich, and a salad and everybody was pleased. They have a full bar with all of the usual choices. Beers were ice cold and drinks were well-mixed.The service was excellent as well - quick delivery of food and drinks, and the prices are very reasonable too.As a bonus, there was a musician playing live in the far room. This was a nice touch, and for those that simply wanted to remain in the bar area or dining side, there is enough of a barrier that you don't feel overwhelmed with the music (it is more background music in the bar and dining area).I'd encourage you to try this place if you are living near Casey or if you're within a reasonable drive. It is a local gem for sure! I certainly plan to go back again, and judging by the crowd, I'm not alone.
