Petersen & Michelsen Hardware Supply

P&M Hardware has been at this spot since 1900. Now it's a small, friendly Ace Hardware store. There are a few mementos from the old days, but the inventory is definitely Ace. For what it's worth, they have a particularly good selection of floor drain grates and of chisels. English is spoken here.

I love this hardware store. Support this local business! When I go here they treat me like a competent adult, explaining things like I understand what they are saying (which I mostly do, but I appreciate their confidence)! I have used their glass replacement service (go to back door in alley) a couple of times--economical and accurate. I've gone in with a couple screws that I needed replacements for and they helped me find them and sold them in the small quantity I needed. Finally, I love, love the old time hardware store atmosphere, slightly creaky oak floor, and the fact that they have been in business for multiple generations. It's exactly the kind of business we should be supporting, IMHO.

We recently discovered the place through a friend at church who flips houses. We needed some 50 year old glass windows repaired (new glass and busted frames) after a bad tenant experience. We got them repaired there cost effectively, and on the same day. Nice, professional job, and the windows look and function better than new. Service is excellent. Prices very good. Most importantly, they are nice to work with and know what they are doing. They also do a lot of lawn mower repairs. If there is a special part you need, they can get it. Good old fashioned business, the way it should be. Highly recommended.
