They have so many great activities for toddlers here! Love the story time and open gym play on Saturdays and Tuesdays. So many toys set up for the kids!

The library staff is so friendly and helpful! The books I needed were at this branch and normally they would bring them to my home library via the library van, but I needed them sooner for my book club. The librarian showed me the leader's guide which also included a sign out sheet to keep track of who had which copy. I entered through the east door on the ground floor. An elevator took me to the 2nd floor where the library is located. Although I didn't get a chance to browse the shelves, the library has a healthy collection of books and there is also interlibrary loan. Other services include:ADA AccessibleBike RacksComputersFree WiFiPrinting, Scanning, Copying & FaxingOpened in 1976, the library was named after former mayor A.V. Sorensen, who donated the land. The second floor is the library and the first floor is a recreation center.

It seems a little strange to review a library, but A.V. Sorenson wasn't even on Yelp yet, so here we go. First off, I'd be willing to wager that non-library goers might not even know this place exists in Dundee, though it's been open as a branch library and recreation center since 1976. The community center includes a large meeting room, gym, game room, classroom, and weight room with activities for all age ranges, from preschool to seniors. While the library (upstairs) includes computers with internet access, all the books you could hope for, and was recently remodeled to boot. There is a also a pretty cool 'lost wax' bronze sculpture commissioned in memory of Pam Scott, a former OPL manager - appropriately titled "Children Reading on a Log" - located inside the library.

My wife and I have been here multiple times with our one-year old daughter. Our most recent visit was this past weekend for a birthday party. The gym is large and really cool. They have little cars, bouncy balls, basketball hoops, and toys all gear towards kids. My one-year old loved crawling around in the gym and I guess anywhere for that matter. The whole facility is clean and modern. There is even a weight-lifting area. The 'reading' room was decked out for the little girls' birthday with tables, snacks, and activities for everyone. It was set up very nicely. When my wife see that we are attending an activity at the Sorenson Branch Library, we are excited to go and see whats going on.

Very cool community center right in Dundee! On a Saturday morning It seemed very busy, which is a good thing! The staff was very friendly and I think pooping in for some classes or even playing pool would be fun!

A.V. Sorenson is a smallish neighborhood library/community center that I've been coming to since I was a kid. What's not to love about your neighborhood library? It's clean and has a decent selection of books, DVDs, CDs, magazines and more. There's also free wifi plus a room of computers that are free for the public to use -- plus a "teens only" room where they set up a Wii or something and let the kids go at it in a controlled environment. They even have self check-out so you don't have to interact with any other humans if you don't want to.We all know that modern libraries struggle to remain relevant when most of us have computers and the internet at home. Still, A.V. Sorenson is a vital part of the Dundee community, offering a quiet and relaxing place to relax and contemplate some literature, surf the web and get away from the humdrum life of sitting around the house all day. All that plus the public gym and many community outreach programs they offer downstairs.I'd put together of team of outcasts just to win a break dancing competition in hopes to raise funds to save this place (if it ever needs saving) -- that's how much I love this place.

This library is perfect to bring a little one - quiet, but not pin drop quiet. Staff is welcoming and kind, (though I've encountered one grumpy staff), going there many many times it was a one time occurrence and does NOT define this location. The baby and toddler story times are fantastic, the staff is helpful and kind, and it's been a great place to take my son on rainy days - and of course to load up on books. The book selection is so good, including board books and beyond, and staff is eager to help. I also love OPL's policy of auto-renewing books, and offering juvenile memberships that extend renewals and cap the late fees - having experienced heavy fees before in another town (eek) this is such a cool program!

The location of this library is right smack in the middle of a neighborhood which is kinda weird but I guess convenient for the locals. The library itself is small but why I have it a 1 star is because this place is very loud and the noise level is not regulated by staff so it's not the best place to read/ study. I left after being there for 30mins

Sorenson Branch has the worst policies and one of the worst desk clerks ever. Children are mixed with adults in the line of computers - which by the way, face huge windows southward.Children are, by naature, noisy. SOME children are surly, with bad language, as well as overly noisy. Adults using the computers are often doing important work, and the children's noise is disruptive.Despite repeated requests for children to be assigned only to the Teen and Children's computers, the situation remains untenable.Desk clerk was also as surly as ever. Even before I was done, she loudly said, "They (the children in question) are welcomed here."Of course they should be welcomed. But not in arrangements that consistently disturb adults. Since we adults are evidently not welcomed, I have cut up my library card, and had my account deleted.
