Oh, the Millard Branch of Omaha Public Library! Let's just say if libraries were people, this one would be your sassy aunt with a reading-glasses chain, armed with witty one-liners and an endless stash of snacks she "doesn't mind sharing."First of all, the staff are on another level of awesome. These folks can find a book faster than you can say "Dewey Decimal," and they do it with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you wonder if they secretly moonlight as detectives. Need a mystery novel? They'll recommend one that'll leave you questioning your life choices. And if you're overdue on a book, don't worry; they'll remind you in the most charmingly passive-aggressive way possible. The atmosphere? Cozy with a side of "you might fall asleep here and no one would judge." Between the comfy chairs and the peaceful hum, it's got that sweet, old-school library vibe but without the "shush" patrol every two seconds. They've mastered the balance between "quiet enough to study" and "lively enough not to feel like a mausoleum."Kids' section? Oh, it's a wonderland. You'll find little ones lost in stories, probably plotting world domination with the help of the Magic Tree House series. And the teen section? Pretty sure it's where the next generation of YA authors is hanging out, jotting down notes on their phone. So if you're in Omaha and need a break, a laugh, or a quiet place to gather your thoughts--or just need to be around people who know their books--Millard Branch is where it's at. Just don't go expecting to leave empty-handed; those librarians are very persuasive.

I've been to this branch several times although it's out of my area. It's one of the bigger OPL branches at least until the new main location opens at 72nd & Dodge. My local puzzle swap group needed a place to meet up that was easy to get to and low cost. In this case, a small meeting room was able to be reserved for a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon for free and met our needs well. Parking was ample and there were a lot of "customers" visiting. That is to say this place was hopping. All the various areas were clearly marked (children's, computers, young adult, new books, etc.) and there were many librarians on hand to answer questions or provide assistance. This may be our go to space from now on.

This is one of my favorite locations of the Omaha Public Library. I believe I read somewhere that this particular library is one that gets very heavy use. I like the book returns in the front lobby and enjoy watching all the moms with their preschoolers returning their books in the slots. There's plenty of staff members available to answer questions. I like the self-check out units which means I can skip the line. There are a lot of book displays such as new books and staff picks to browse through. Of course the stacks are the main appeal. The shelves are nicely spaced with good lighting to see everything. I'll be popping in again next time in the area.

I was so pleasantly surprised going to the library today for the first time in probably over a decade. I completely expected it to be an old, dark, dingy and dusty place with some creeps lurking in the corners, but was excited to find it was the opposite. The Millard branch is bright, clean, quiet, and the staff is so friendly. There are windows surrounding 2.5 of the walls letting a lot of bright, natural light in, and the lights inside were bright and pleasant giving it an overall light atmosphere. Everything was thoroughly cleaned and tidy, which I appreciated. There are multiple corners inside to take a seat, read awhile, or just enjoy being somewhere that you can escape the fast paced world outside. They have an area for kids, for teens, and for adults which is also something I loved. When it came to employees, I was met with kindness and loads of patient help. My only "negative" walking away was that I wished there were more updated books, especially in the religion sector. However, if one location doesn't there are others to go to as well! TIP : If you live in Douglas county, having a library card and renting books is FREE! How fricken cool is that?! You have 3 weeks to return or renew your book/s, and also get free access to audio books online and more. There's so much opportunity! Woah! Books can get SO expensive and really clog up your shelves, so this is a great way to save money, space, and to just enjoy partaking in the world of books!

This review covers post-COVID library use. These folks actually make the library work for remote use. It works well and is very safe.Hours changed. Now it's 10a to 4p, W-Sat. You can pick up reserves by appointment only. You pull up and call in. They bring out your books, bagged, and leave them in front of your car. Safe and clean.Drop offs are easy. The slot is on the north side of the building. You can only drop off during open hours.

I really enjoy this library, I've been coming here my whole life. Lots of good memories as a child and still a great place to get books. I've been using the libraries audio books via the Overdrive app which is great too. Really this is a well kept library and a nice place to chill.

My family spends so much time in this branch of the library. It's good for studying, meeting with a tutor, and checking out books, movies or CDs. Update: It is nice to walk in and hear children and young adults chatting about their books.
