Who knew there was a great coffee shop andwork space within the Conservatory! A large and clean work space on the west end with a full coffee and tea bar. The Internet was a bit slow so if you plan on working this might not be the best spot but it's great for meeting with friends or clients.

If you want a quality / well rounded music education then be sure to look into the conservatory. Many of the instructors have extremely impressive resumes and really have a passion for bringing the love of music to kids and the Omaha community. I cannot say enough good things about the two instructors my kids take lessons from (Vu Che - piano) and (Spencer Jones - drums).

Having attended an open house I was able to do a tour of the entire facility and this is defiantly a top notch music education facility. The rooms are all sound proof and the technology appears to be cutting edge. The design is very impressive and there is an awesome coffee bar in the facility.

Up until recently I wasn't even aware this place existed. Then suddenly in a couple week stretch, my daughter had a piano recital here and my niece had school chorus event. The main hall is not large, but a nice space to take in an intimate event, seating maybe a few hundred at most. It appears that the space can be closed off and made even smaller if necessary. The seating was comfortable enough with the seats tiered in the back so everyone can see the stage. The acoustics were nice as well. One nice positive is that Accelerando Coffee is located inside the conservatory, so you can grab an excellent cup of coffee, along with a pastry or sandwich .

Without question the best in the business. State of the art facilities, extraordinarily friendly staff, talented and motivated teachers , and the best grilled cheese in Omaha right there in house at Accelerando. If you want to learn about music, this is the place to do it!

I sent my kid to SoundWaves music camp and they came back complaining that their voice instructor made them very uncomfortable. If they weren't actively teaching, the instructor was overtly flirting with another instructor. They said it was like the instructors were acting like teenagers at summer camp. I don't recommend trusting your kids to "professionals" who are more focused on getting into each others pants than providing a good experience for their students.

When we moved to Omaha, we contacted OCM so that our then-7-year-old daughter could continue violin lessons. OCM was horribly unorganized for enrollment, but we kept following up as we had heard good things about it. Our daughter was eventually matched with an instructor who was not kind. During our 4th or 5th lesson, the instructor spoke to our daughter in such a completely inappropriate way that we left and never returned. For the month that we were at OCM, this awful instructor sucked the joy out of playing violin for our daughter. When I contacted the registrar to withdraw, she did not ask why we were leaving. I had paid for some materials and asked that OCM mail them to me. They never did. In sum, our experience was that this organization is poorly run and does not have a culture of kindness. We found a lovely private violin instructor, a member of the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, outside of OCM who was a perfect fit for our daughter. My advice: look elsewhere.

Fantastic, creative, and intelligent faculty in all areas! OCM goes out of their way to create programming that serves the community in a huge way. We are so lucky in Omaha to have such a fantastic facility and group of people who care so much about music!

So far our experience has been awful. My Child started cello lessons here in the fall with Molly R and the first term alone the teacher missed at least a half dozen lessons. So far this term 4 lessons.. One for a snow day which the conservatory does not require them to make up but they definitely take your money for it. Then my child is fired by her teacher because she is struggling to keep up when she goes extended periods with no lessons because they are cancelled by her teacher.. Now the sorry excuse for Customer service is having my child switch teachers, which i agree with and wanted last term... I even had to hire an outside cello tutor because so many lessons were cancelled. But instead of taking any of my concerns seriously with the previous teacher she simply would not listen to them. Even to the point of telling me that the teacher only missed 2 days! We are trying this new teacher and maybe my review will change but for now i highly recommend going elsewhere for lessons even if it costs more.

Would not recommend OCM. I called to inquire about violin lessons for my 12 year old daughter. I had requested a specific teacher, who I found out was no longer teaching at OCM. We were not allowed to interview potential teachers, but were to be assigned to someone. We received very minimal background information about this individual. I was not impressed with the personality or the teaching style of the violin teacher. When I discussed my concerns with OCM management, I was not taken seriously. After 2 lessons, my daughter was in tears and didn't want to go back. I inquired with one of the local violin shops about violin lessons and was given the name of Bill Wolcott. He is absolutely amazing! After my daughter's trial lesson with Bill, she was beaming instead of sobbing. She looks forward to each weeks lesson with Bill as he takes a genuine interest in his students and adapts his teaching style to fit the student. OCM uses a cookie cutter approach to teaching and if your child does not "fit" into that mold--too bad! If you are looking for high quality violin instruction, you will not find it at the Omaha Conservatory of Music.
