I have a soft spot for the local shops, so I stopped in here to get gear for my upcoming trip to Utah. The experience was decent, but you might be better off going to a larger store, depending on what you need. The chick at the counter was friendly and very helpful, so they get points for service. It's such a small place that they really only need one or two people to run it.Their selection is not very extensive, but they did have the small things I needed. So like if you're in the neighborhood and just need to pick up a new pair of hiking socks or a headlamp or something like that, Moose's Tooth should be fine. They also had several clearance racks for clothing. However, if you need something bigger or out of the ordinary, you'd be better off going to an REI or a Cabela's or a Scheel's or whatever you have in your area. Honestly, the biggest turn-off for me was price. I only bought one bag worth of basic hiking gear and it ran me up into the triple-digits. I do need them, and I wasn't able to get to a bigger store, but still. They are a little overpriced.

Looking for an outfitter for climbing, hiking, camping, and kayaking? This little gem is a nice locally owned shop with lots to offer and a knowledgeable staff. Lots of choices from clothing to equipment in high quality brands. It's dangerous going in because I can always find something I want. The website needs some work and it doesn't do this place justice. Seriously just stop in if or call before you head to a big box sports store. It's small but it had more than you'd imagine.

I guess I'm used to the bigger stores such as REI (in CA), Cabellas, Bass Pro etc because I find this store to be trying really hard to seem big, but they really lack selection and a lot of items. The service is friendly, store clean, but I usually end up having to order what I want from the internet because they just don't have it.

I love this place!!! I moved here from Bozeman, MT and had not felt at home until I found this wonderful local shop. Scheels does have a bunch of stuff, yes.. And they may afford a few sales, but this place has knowledgeable staff that actually use the products! And they have a HUGE selection of Patagonia items. Awesome.

High end boots SPLIT the sole with in a year. Went to return or something, acted like no big deal - "MFG will send you a new pair ... buy another in the mean time - then return these" - per the sales person. Then of course NOT the case. Got stuck w/ overpriced falling apart work boots = 2 pairs! Manager at store not helpful w/ situation.

I've walked in to find some good sandals. I liked my friend's shoes and she told me they were Chaco brand. This was the place I found online that had Chacos available. I liked their selection and the lady from the counter was super friendly and helpful. We figured out my size, and I've been pretty happy with my pair of Chacos.I like that they've also got a selection of cool small knick knacks (like "Light my Fire" sporks, which are my favourite for office use and for travel!). And yeah, they're definitely more expensive than some online stores but I liked the option of trying on what I was buying and the helpfullness of the staff.

I walked in not knowing much about what I was looking for, so the woman behind the counter walked me through every detail about everything I would ever need to know about it. I left there thinking that is the way all businesses should treat their customers.

Heading to work in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in New Mexico for the whole summer! My first experience in the store was yesterday and I was greeted genuinely by the employee. She was very helpful and I wasn't nervous to keep asking questions and learning more. Love Moose's Tooth and will be back!

We have been shopping at Moose's Tooth for years. If they don't have what we need, they often are able to get it. And our whole family likes supporting a great local business. Customer service has always been great and quality of merchandise is never a problem.
