Okay - I'm a fan. Monica's is not a bakery, it is a specialty cake shop that is usually only open by appointment. My daughter wanted to make a special cake for her mother which was to be multi tier with icing, fondant and decorations. The question was where to get all the cake supplies...especially the fondant. Stopped by Monica's and we were fortunate she was in the store working on an order. She gave us good advice about how to color the fondant and had the initial supplies we needed. Noted - I said "initial" supplies.Once we started the cake, needed more colored fondant. Called Monica's and asked if she would be willing to open her store so we could get more. She returned our call and said "yes" We were very grateful and this was great good customer service. Monica also does baking and decorating classes which we just might have to take advantage of and if we need a special cake; this might be the first place we try.

We ordered a birthday cake for my daughter. The cake was not ready at the time scheduled for pickup. While the cake was cute the flavor was just not there. Honestly I could have purchased a cake mix that would have tasted better. In addition her cakes are rather pricey. I will be sticking with Cake Specialists from now on. I don't know why I tried another place.

Monica made a cake for my sister's baby shower. I gave her a picture of the cake I desired about a month in advance. However as I pulled up to Monica's Cake Bakery to pick up my cake, she was still working on it. When I looked at the cake, as far as the decor, it only had one thing I desired. The fondant was the wrong color, the flower band was not wrapped around the cake as it was absent in the back, the leaves were not on the cake, the writing on the cake did not look professionally done, and to make matters worse the cake was lopsided. I was EXTREMELY disappointed. I wanted everything to go well for this occasion, and her cake made the worst of the event. When I asked Monica why the leaves were missing, this professional decorator told me they would not sit right on the cake so she did not put them on. She made this decision after taking my money as she makes her customers pay upfront, and without calling me to make sure this was okay. When I left Monica a couple of messages to discuss my unhappiness she did not pick up her phone, and has yet to call me back. It's been almost a week. Shortly after picking up the cake, I returned to discuss what could be done. However, upon walking to the door, I found it to be locked but the lights were on in the shop. The ultimate disappointment with this cake was the taste. The cake was dried out, and the food coloring she attempted to put inside the cake (which I did not ask her to do) was not throughly stirred. There were white spots throughout the cake. This really upset me and my family. I don't submit this review to bash Monica's Cakes, but only to help someone else to not be disappointed as I was. Although she gave me a discount and was a bit cheaper than the other Bakeries, in this case, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a cake done professionally, look elsewhere because this is NOT an experience you want.
