Hands-down the best selection of hardwoods I've ever seen. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful. This is a fantastic place to go just to get inspiration, or to find those rare tools or workpieces you won't find anywhere else.

It's probably the best store in Omaha for domestic and exotic hardwoods and woodworking machines. Having said that, it may also be the only one. Selection of hardwoods is very good and they carry scads of interesting pieces. Their machinery selection is also excellent. It is very pricey. Online sources for wood, hand tools, and machinery are significantly less. I only purchase from Midwest Woodworkers when I have a project for a client that needs to be completed before parts or wood can be delivered. It's thouroughly OK.

This store is a gem for Omaha and the surrounding area. Woodworking specialty stores are very hard to find and we are fortunate to have it. I try to support this store as much as I can. Every woodworker should support a store like this so we make sure it does well and remains open. For the most part their prices aren't horrible. I wish their wood prices were more competitive, however. Overall, they are competitive. Bricks and mortar always adds overhead that online stores don't have, and Gerry does a good job of keeping his prices competitive. From the employees I've talked to, they are knowledgeable and they are woodworkers themselves and they are great resources. When I bought a lathe and started turning wood, I had no idea what I was doing. They helped me with tools, books, and countless tips that made my learning curve much shorter. Their selection of wood species is impressive. I'm not sure how many different species they carry, but you will very likely find what you're looking for. Their tool selection is also impressive. They carry a lot of specialty tools that are very hard to find off-line. Gerry and the guys do a great job and this store is a valuable resource for the woodworkers of our area!! Only suggestion I have would be to be more competitive with wood.
