Please for the love of your own life disregard my positive review of the pill mill known as Midwest Pain Clinics. When I wrote that I was high as a kite on 30mg Roxicodone (4x a day) and Fentanyl patches. No..:I'm not a cancer patient. I'm a chronic pain patient who went to this clinic after having moved back to Omaha to care for my elderly father after my mother passed away. I actually went to my appointment 3hrs after mom's funeral. When I went in I simply wanted to find a local provider who could continue the care I had been receiving back home. My previous treatments included cortisone shots and 5mg of 5/325 Percocet 2x a day. I had been on that protocol for over 8 years when I visited Midwest Pain Clinics. The doctor (Richard Hubbel M.D.) said "you're gonna be feeling better than you ever have in your life after you leave here" after telling Me there's no way my previous "weak" medication could still be working for me....even though it was perfectly. Well fast forward five years and I am now on methadone at a methadone clinic that I have to visit almost every day. The physical damage the meds this doc gave me did is unreal. I have never been an addict to anything but in a short few months Midwest Pain Clinics turned me into a regular junkie. When confronted about this they took the most bizarre routes possible. Dr Hubbel quickly existed the practice (moving back East to do anesthesiology). It was interesting to learn that Dr. Hubbel had his own incredibly severe opioid problem as well. When he came to Omaha he had his license revoked in another jurisdiction and was on probation. Why? Well after ODing himself in the hospital after surgery on Dilaudid, he did the same at his own home. Responding paramedics found nearly 180 empty ampules of dilaudid scattered around his bedroom. It is sickening to know that Midwest Pain hired an IV opioid addict to prescribe opioid medications. My life is forever altered. I want nothing more than to be done with opioids but without my methadone treatment I am violentlyAnd life threateningly Ill. I was steered to methadone because it was the only way I could achieve some normalcy in my life. Please do your homework and don't let these people railroad you into hardcore meds supplied by their "conveniently" located on site pharmacy. The only good thing I can say is good riddance to Dr Hubbel. Thank the lord that he left that clinic and won't hurt any more of their patients.

Very rude and unprofessional support staff. A "nurse" told me today that "HIPAA doesn't mean anything here" when I asked for a more private conversation than in the main lobby about health questions. Been there twice and have had terrible customer service each time. Zero stars..

Mid Dec 2016 I went to the Dunes. Took expensive tests that I was not covered by my insurance for. The first Dr (? I have been told they are not actually Dr) I saw was ok. She quit in Jan 2017 and I was changed to a man I believe his name is Dave. It to approximately 2 hours to see him and it was obvious that he had been eating. He was uncaring, lazy, arrogant, rude, audacious, and didn't appear to be knowledgeable to me or my daughter, and claimed he owned me now. He demanded that I take the tests over again because he owned me now and I was new to him. My daughter argued with him about it. She is a nurse (who had to waste her time) and knows what she is talking about. I would have walked out but needed to see my Dr first so I knew she would take over. I have been seeing another Dr. for pain since March of 2017.Now I have been being double billed by these people. Really! Do I get paid for doing their job? I sent the information on a bill for $100 and told them to check their records. It has been turned over for collection. Now I am getting more bills for amounts that have previously been paid. I have the proof of payment but are they going to ignore it also? I will be sending a bill for the work I have to do to prove this, including the tests that I should not have had to pay for the second time! The BBB will be hearing from me about this also. I have spoken to others who did not like them and won't be going back either.

I was two minutes late and they refused to see me... Well they told be my appointment was at 10:30 am when I made the appointment over the phone. Unlike most medical clinics they didn't even bother calling me to remind me of the appointment a day or two before... so when I got there at 10:17, the receptionist rudely told me my appointment was at 10:15am... I also never received any paperwork they said they were sending to fill out prior to the appointment.. so she rolls her eyes and goes back to speak to the doctor to see if he'll still see me... he flat out refused, even though I needed to be seen... even though THEY were the ones who told me the wrong time and it wasn't my fault that usps is complete crap and I didn't receive the paperwork. She offered me the paperwork so I can just fill it out and try to make another appointment at some other time... yeah, I'd really give you any business after I was treated like crap. Looks like I better find a different pain management clinic. Wish I saw the two stars before I even bothered calling them in the first place. If I could give it zero stars, I would

Firstly, I feel so bad for the poor front desk ladies. The phone is constantly ringing and with having to check people in at the same time? They look stressed and are constantly apologizing to patients. The doctors are great, I've seen Johnson and cook and they are A plus plus. The nurses and MAs are okay. The MA"s need to learn a bit more pharmacology, one of them told me Cymbalta was like ibuprofen? No it's not. I was already taking 2 types of SSRI's and for her to tell me that could have been dangerous. I could have gotten very sick. I always wait for my appointment to go in with any complaints/exasperations/changes because they are terrible about calling back/coming up with a solution, (that's how the one MA told me Cymbalta is form of ibuprofen...) and it's very annoying if you have new pain or a medical question. Expect to wait for your appointment, but that is typical with any Drs these days. They are always busy, which to me means they are good. However, it's annoying going in for a 9 AM appointment and not getting in until 10, they tell you to come early for a reason people. I have noticed staff turn over is high. Which isn't a good sign (to me personally) and some of the staff seem to be kind of jerky, cut you off, don't listen, don't let you explain, rude to my spouse. Most of the newbies are very nice, like the guy up there who I think he's a MA. They have a excellent relationship with Horizon Spine, who are very very good at their jobs. One other thing is that nobody is ever on call. I've been to the ER 3x in the past few years, and nobody can get ahold of a on call??? It's strange.

This is the worst place! Don't go there! They will not do what your other Dr. that recommended you go there, to have them do! All they do is talk you into injections, that are NOT NEEDED AND VERY EXPENSIVE!! I was sent to this office, by my neurosurgeon, to try a pain stimulator, as I needed a back surgery and My Surgeon wanted me off some of my pain meds, before he would do the surgery! I had, had many injections prior to seeing DR. Balter, but he argued, AND ARGUED with me on my first visit, saying he wanted to try more injections, that I KNEW WOULD NOT WORK FOR WHAT MY RECENT MRI-- stated I need to see a surgeon, for drastic changes from last MRI! So now they are wanting their money, after what Poor Medicare was stuck with and they kept sending more bills to Medicare, that they had already been paid for! Even Medicare was confused and have it marked on my file, for the amounts they charged, being over what is normal! I am just stating the facts told to me!! Most Dr. offices that I have recent been to, have financial aid, (that I have recently qualified for) for people on disability and aging people that live on limited income, but they told me no, cuz they want their money!! I won't be going anywhere near this place! I'd die first! These injections were done by this office( summer 2017) in a series of three visits! I had to have a driver(from out of town too)! I knew they wouldn't work! I was in a lot of pain, and had a new MRI done spring 2018 and legs were going numb and I could barely function, let alone walk! I had to be on a high dose of Morphine! This MRI was even worse! After a CT. Scan performed at Surgeon's office, I got a call the next morning 7:A.M. that I needed a back surgery and had it done July 19, 2018 and am feeling great!! My share of these bills were paid through Financial Aid! What a blessing! If only I would have walked out of his office, when he argued with me, about doing those injections, that weren't needed and I knew weren't going to do me any good!!

Would not recommend this business to anyone! My daughter is nurse in hospital in Kansas City and would be shocked about how they treat patients at this business! Best of Omaha 2017! What a joke!

I have been a patient since 2014 and although there were a few hiccups my first two visits I quickly realized it was my demanding attitude that created the situation. I'll admit, I'm not very pleasant when I'm in uncontrollable pain. The ladies at the front are awesome and will go out of their way to help you. There is a sign posted that says "if you have not been called back within 15 minutes of your appointment time please see receptionist", I have let them know I've waited 15 minutes, less than 5 minutes I'm called back. Never have I waited an hour in 2 1/2 years. They do get busy the months of Nov/Dec with patients taking advantage of procedures before the Jan 1st insurance changes. Plan accordingly. I am thankful for the staff at Midwest Pain Clinic, and appreciate all they do to help me live the best life I can have controlling my pain.
