McCue’s Nebraska Taproom

Coming from Denver, Colorado, I am glad I found this place. The amount of on-tap craft Nebraska beer is excellent. The bartender at this place can be considered a beer sommelier. When I got in, I wanted a good flight of wheat beers; his recommendations were on point. It was pretty hard to select a favorite beer after having a little bit of each of his perfect selections.The crowd seemed to be a bit clingy - although I have a friendly disposition, no one even smiled back at me. It seemed like a very homogenous white-het-cis-crowd, and we are in 2022. We can't fault the taproom for McCue's Taproom's' patrons. I would suggest a community event where they intentionally invite a more diverse crowd to check out the space. Maybe a night where all they play on the tv is Latinx music or a Drag Bingo night!

A pre-crane drink was in order and somehow McCue's Nebraska Taproom was selected. Its gimmick is that it only sells beer brewed in Nebraska. For some unknown reason, I instead went with an Old Fashioned made with some Nebraska whiskey or another. When it arrived in a glass filled with crushed ice, I knew I should have went with an "Orange Dreamsicle Vanilla Bean Blonde Ale." It was also incredibly sweet, like it was made for a child. The place requires you to provide a credit card prior to ordering. When I asked if is was "because I don't look trustworthy?" the server replied that it was the only way to allow ordering via her tablet. I found the whole idea rather inhospitable, though Mrs. AAR rather liked it. Our rather untrusting server was from Jersey and when asked "what exit?" was flummoxed. As was I, as I've never met a New Jerseyite who didn't know or wasn't insulted by this joke. Our exit-less server subsequently mentioned we should dine next door at the Ally Rose.

Great selection of beers and spirits from several distilleries and breweries in Nebraska. Tried the double barrel bourbon whiskey which was excellent. They had very delicious cocktails as well. Very spacious and clean and not too crowded or loud. Service was quick and attentive!

Lots of great beers to taste. Relaxed atmosphere. Great staff. Bring your own snacks!Nightly specials. We were there on trivia night.

McCue's brings back nostalgia for many lifelong Kearney residents, in the location that used to house McCue's Market with everything from eggs to household items.When you walk into McCue's Taproom, the bar on your left has ~30 beers on tap, as well as many wine and spirits options. No food is available in house, but there are often food trucks parked in the back alley OR you can order food and have it delivered to McCue's from Alley Rose restaurant.The food truck "Hangries LLC" was on hand when we visited and it was delicious and filling. The best options from Nebraska breweries were awesome. Several high top and low top table options as well as barstools up to the bar. Groups of 2-20 would be able to find a spot to hang out inside or out on the back patio area. I'll definitely be back to McCue's when I'm back in Kearney!

Just stepped in to look-see for first time. Nebraska made beers served here and is nice setting. No food options. I didn't ask if planned.

Fantastic place, cool owner. We loved that they offer locally or state of Nebraska made items. We were walking to breakfast and noticed the great history of the signage and building had to look inside through the windows while walking by and although they weren't open yet they let us come in to check the place out and tantalized us with some beer samples. It wasn't the first time I ever drank beer before breakfast but it was the most memorable! Will stop back during normal operating hours.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Not a lot of college kids. Not a beer drinker, and was very happy with the drink menu. Tried several of their signature cocktails. All were good. And all using Nebraska made spirits! Can't wait until next visit.

Great supporters of Nebraska breweries. I found a few options I didn't know existed. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the drinks on tap.
