Mark is by far the best jeweler in the Omaha/Lincoln area. His showroom is beautiful and is set up to deliver one-on-one, by appointment only, completely personalized service. He will help you design the ring of your dreams. I've sent many friends to him, and he works with The Who's-Who of the area. Mark is a true professional.I am writing this review motivated by adoration of Mark, but also because I am seeing there are a few negative reviews written on Yelp. I would encourage anyone reading the negative reviews to remember that it's common for only unhappy customers to write reviews. For these 2 negatives reviews there are hundreds of VERY happy clientele that return to and rely on Mark for their jewelry.Make an appointment with Mark and meet him for yourself!

Just bought a diamond ring for my wife. He sat with us to determine exactly what she wanted and he delivered. It was beautiful and no one else came close on quality and price. Our family has been buying jewelry from Mark for 3 generations and no matter where we live we always come back. Mark has exquisite taste and guides you to the right decision. We live in Chicago and no one here can come close. We traded in some jewelry and the price he quoted us was exactly the final cost. A true pleasure dealing with him.

There are people who sell things, and there are people who sell with integrity, style, and passion. I found Mark through a series of events which lead me to leave the big jewelry store in town I was planning to by from and embark on a personalized service with Mark. I met with him about 5-6 times before my custom piece was finished, and I relished and enjoyed very second of it. Expect to be treated like an old friend, sharing stories and passing the time like it's nothing. The shortest visit I had there was an hour- and that was just because another of his appointments arrived cutting us off. I could have easily stayed for hours just talking to him about all the random things in life. I came in with a lot of ideas and pictures of what I wanted, and he made those dreams a reality- his expertise was really helpful. The craftsmanship of the product I purchased was excellent, not to mention a better price as what I was quoted from the competitor. I would certainly recommend him to others, and am already planning a few more purchases of my own!

Mark was great. He made sure i understand what I'm buying, and what it's really worth if i ever wanted to sell it. I did my homework and after ton of research i realized he was being 100% honest. I will be back to purchase future pieces. Spending big money is scary but he made me feel perfectly comfortable. Thank you Mark!

Incredible experience. I was working with Mark from out of state, and even with that, he made the process easy for me to buy an engagement ring while making things very clear, giving me great advice all the way through. Could not recommend this enough. Mark told me that it was his goal to make my girlfriend happy and to make me look like a hero. He blew it completely out of the water. She's obsessed with the ring, singing his praises too.

Top-notch jeweler. Very impressed. Service is second to none. Went out of his way to get the diamond I wanted. Price was VERY competitive. I would not go to any other place. Mark is a class act. I've recommended him to many people. I'd give him 10 out if 5 stars!

I visited Mark Edward because I noticed his sign across the street from my house and I wanted to use a local, independent jeweler for my engagement ring. At our initial meeting, he was very friendly, explaining the process to me thoroughly and giving me a great idea of the ring he could create from several diamonds in my family. Despite warnings from friends, I proceeded to commission the jewelery. I gave him two rings that belonged to my great aunt, one a single-stone engagement ring and one a wedding band with several small diamonds. He said it would be done in about two weeks at a cost of roughly $2500. Three weeks later, I emailed him to schedule pickup. He did not recognize me at the time. His secretary told me she had no record of my transaction with him, and that she had no idea where my jewelery was at the moment. Mr. Schmelzer called back quickly, explaining that the jewelery had been sent away to another city. We had not discussed sending the jewelery anywhere, and I mistakenly assumed that the work was done locally. This was the first of several attempts to pick up my dream engagement ring. For the next five weeks, I was told alternatingly that Fedex missed delivery, the bench jewelers had screwed up the ring, family illnesses, etc. I finally emailed him and requested my diamonds back in whatever condition they might be. Amazingly, the completed ring was ready in two days. The ring is gorgeous and I love it, so if you have heirlooms that you hope to go missing and a few months' time to burn, I can recommend him with enthusiasm. Later, I emailed Mr. Schmelzer to get back the original rings without the diamonds, as I planned to set zirconia in the rings and give them back to my mother. A few runarounds later, Mr. Schmelzer finally told me that the settings from my great aunt were lost, never to be found. Evidently, the jewelers in the other city didn't consider my rings worth enough to insure, track, or send via FedEx. He offered a paltry compensation which I donated to charity. I am now uncertain whether the new ring contains the diamonds from my great aunt. In the meantime, I have spoken with several other people who have had similar problems, making me think this is business as usual. About 4 weeks into the process, a friend of mine looked at me in horror when I told her where I was getting my ring done. I wish I would have followed her advice, which she delivered with the straightest face I've ever seen: "My advice to you is get your diamonds back. Now."

My fiancée and I purchased a beautiful pair of earrings for her sister. Only three weeks later one of the earrings broke. Considering the horror stories others have had here, as well as our previous bad experience with this store, specifically with repairs, we have completely given up on this store. We respect small business owners and try to do as much business with them as possible, but, in this case, buyer beware. The World Herald article about the owner of this store stealing a large diamond from his previous employer, a large jewelry store in Omaha, coupled with our experience here are too profound.

Mark is a master designer and perfectionist in execution. He designed and crafted a beautiful diamond/tanzanite men's ring that gets compliments wherever I wear it. I shopped two other local jewelers and Mark was by far the most creative. So if you want something that's not "off the shelf", Mark is the man to see. Not only that, he quoted me a very fair estimate, and the bill matched the estimate. He has earned all my future business.

I am forever indebted and thoroughly impressed by Mark Edward. I cameto him with hat in hand after working with another private jeweler inOmaha to no avail in finding an engagement ring and wedding band formy wife. It was just over a month until our wedding day and we were in a time crunch to find the right one. I simply shared what she was looking for, Markprovided me with wonderful expertise and suggestions, and then told mehe could create it for us in a very prompt manner. He even asked if it would be acceptable for him to make the diamonds bigger than what we requested and still be within our budget. We unequivocally said YES. The rings came in as promised and were even better than we imagined. The diamonds were bigger, more beautiful, and less expensive than what all the private and chain store jewelers were quoting us. Due to his superb customer service, delightful and fun personality, first-class merchandise, and ability to rise to the challenge in helping us out, there is no one else in town I would rather do jewelry business with than Mark Edward.
