Mangelsen's

Okay...despite having grown up in Omaha for the most part, I cannot believe I had never been to Mangelsen's before and neither could my husband! He brought me here recently and I was blown away by how much bigger the store was than I was anticipating and how much they offered!As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted by a staff member and then my husband steered me toward the free popcorn. Alright, fine - twist my arm, I guess I'll have some popcorn. It was freshly popped, warm, and very buttery! There was also a table of all kinds of seasonings/powders for you to dress up your popcorn however you'd like.With our popcorn in hand, we walked around the store and focused on seeing the Halloween decorations and a little bit of the Christmas decor as well. There is truly something here for everyone. There's even a jigsaw puzzle corner with signs that encourage you to bring old puzzles back for a 30% off on a new one. Coming from a puzzle family, this definitely caught my eye.We ended up getting a cute Halloween decoration and some baking supples (because, yes, they even have that!). It seemed like a lot of the items were for sale and the pricing for most things was very good! The Yelp check-in offer also sweetens the pot (but note it's ONLY for non-sale items). Our cashier didn't seem familiar with the Yelp offer, but ultimately was able to apply the coupon for us and was very nice about it.Looking forward to my next trip already!

OMG!!! I have lived here for almost 3 years and passed this place every Sunday on my way to church. Why have I never been here? It's the best craft store ever. Not to mention the friendly and amazing customer service and every single different department you can think of. From baking to Christmas to art And so much more. I didn't get to spend much time here because we just decided to stop in while my sister and her husband were here and only had about 10 minutes. We were flying through the store but I will be back. I have to see it all and now I have to go to the restaurant next-door.

Service was not good this time...the cashier "overcharged me" I used cash credit rewards from prior large purchases ..so when I point out she overcharged me by $15 she then had standing their for 15 minutes while she stared at the register ...finally she refunded it and redid it ..but wait ..she used my cash credit rewards AGAIN and said she'd leave a "note" for accounting because she didn't know how to fix and credit me back ..so I basically paid $36 for a $10 item ...I politely asked for a manager but she said she's not here until Monday! Thank gawd for the FREE popcorn ..the only positive

Stepping into Mangelsen's is like stepping into a play ground of creative juices at the ready for you. Whether you're putting together a Halloween costume, baking a cake, painting a blank canvas, or just looking around for the perfect gift for someone, Mangelsen's has almost anything you can think of. I first came here with my sister years ago and loved that you can snack on free popcorn from their popcorn maker as you're walking about the store. I love the family feel throughout the store and that they are locally and family owned. Supporting small family businesses is a soft spot for me and I'll do my best to seek these businesses out when I can. Lately, I've had a few great experiences at Mangelsen's. Last year, my boyfriend and I took a look at their picture frames in hopes of framing some of our posters in the future. They had a great selection of colors and textures you could choose from. We also found a three canvas painting he ended up buying of a moon over the ocean that was for sale. Fast forward to my birthday and I opened up my Lilo & Stitch poster that was custom framed at Mangelsen's! The colors matching and complimenting the colors in the poster. It turned out great! On that particular trip we found out they offer classes in their back room. He ended up signing us up for a Macrame plant hanger class for us during Christmas for this past weekend. It was such a fun class! Our teacher was helpful, friendly, and easy going. The knots we needed to learn were a little tricky at first but once you got them down it became easy. Our plant hangers turned out great and we hope to take more classes soon! Be sure to check out this family owned gem of a place for any crafting, decorative, or costume needs! I haven't been to Mangelsen's in quite some time but decided to go and search for some decorations for my daughter's birthday party. While I didn't find what I was looking for, I found myself browsing around and looking at some of their sprinkles, cookie cutters, and fabric. As a child, I frequently went to Mangelsen's with my Grandma to get yarn and other craft supplies. She would always snack on their complementary popcorn while we browse. It definitely holds some special memories for me.I feel like Mangelsen's has such a great selection of fabric compared to other vendors in the area. They carry the Ruby Star line which is full of vibrant colors and fun patterns! I love everything about them! I do wish it was a little cheaper, ($12.99 per yard) but it's definitely cheaper than Etsy, which is the only other place I've found it.

One of my favorite craft stores to go to, especially when I'm looking for something "different" from the typical big box stores in the area. I also love the fact that they give a military discount.

This is a great craft store for those looking for different craft items than you'd usually find in a craft store. Different fabric, local school scrapbook items, and tons of seasonal items that are so fun to look at. And of course I have to mention the Christmas Room. All Christmas all the time! Trees decorated, ornaments and decor galore! Next time I'll get some pics. Plenty of parking, normal + pricing, and while it seems challenging to find someone for help, they are there and are helpful. Enjoy!

If you have a party coming up this is your store to go to! They have just about anything I can think of that you might need. Party decor, household decor, scrapbooking details, balloons, etc. I walked through this quickly just to see what they had. I will definitely be going back for my son's birthday party/husband's retirement party decor and planning.

I love this store. I have been shopping it for at least 40 years, I have followed them all over and even remember their different locations. Yes, it could improve, but not much, it has it's own little vibe. It is very untouched by the outside world in my opinion. I have purchased many many things over the years. I dont go all that often now since I have such a large yarn and craft closet. Last time I went in after a very long hiatus, I found a great sale on some good yarn and pulled out my old rewards card and it had more on it than I ever imagined. I left without paying much and getting lots of stuff. I used to go to some knitting classes and they always had giveaways. I know one thing, David is not a greedy cheap skate, he is a generous proprieter that really has cared about his customers experience!

I recently just went for my first time. I've realized that I've been missing out!! The owner came and introduced himself, gave me the tour and told me the history of this place. Then to top it off, since the restaurant was closed at the time I went, he gave me a loaf of bread that they make right there inside this location. I will definitely be back. This is now my new home away from home.
