We drove up to Macke Motors (67 miles away) to look at a used truck. Took the truck for a test drive and the Check Engine light came on. Had them look at it, and they told us it was a sensor and would be $X to fix. They would have to order the part, or they could take that amount off the price of the truck and we could have our mechanic fix. We chose the latter. We just had our mechanic look at it, and it's not that sensor, but something else entirely. Less than a week of owning this truck, and we've had our truck in the shop twice trying to figure out what's wrong with it. Also, if you don't use the financing offered by Macke Motors, they increase the advertised price of the vehicle. Overall, very poor service. We feel lied to all so they could sell a vehicle.UPDATE: It's been 2 weeks and we contacted the title holder of the vehicle we traded in. Macke Motors has made zero attempt to contact them to pay off the balance.

They have fraudulent business practices. We found a listing on Autotrader for a vehicle for $14,900. Got there and went to sign papers and they were trying to sell it to us for $18,000. They said Autotrader is wrong and their website is the correct price of $18,000. We left the dealership after getting no where with negotiations about it. Right after we left, they changed the listing on Autotrader to $24,500 and their website at last check today was still $18,000. Don't trust them.

I purchased a pre-owned Lexus at Macke and was told it had two key FOBs after I paid for it they went to get the second fob and could not find one. It was a local car and they were going to contact the prior owner to get the other fob I have called about this three times and emailed one time I purchased this car three and a half months ago and still don't have a fob. When I have called they said they would get back with me and never have. Other than this problem I thought they were very good to work with.

I purchased a truck from them and they didn't tell me that it had a check engine light on and that they cleared before I looked at it. A few days later the light came on and they won't fix it even though they knew the problem existed. Very shady dealership.

I recently stopped by to look at a new car about 15 minutes before their closing time. This dealership is 60 miles away and is in a rural town not convenient to access. It was cold and no sales person came out to meet and greet me so I walked into the dealership. I was greeted by a man who directed me to a sales person who did not get up from her chair to greet me. She found the keys to the advertised car and we walked out to the car only to be told that the battery was dead and it would not start. The sales person started yelling loudly, trying to get the attention of another employee, outside of the building but he did not respond. The price of the car was over $1000.00 higher than the advertised price, and I questioned why. I was told that the optional roof storage rail system had been added to the car, making the price higher. This was an unsold and previous year car that had been there a long time. I told the sales person that we didn't want the roof rail storage option and didn't understand why the price was different than the advertising. She said that I could scan and email the advertised price so she could show her boss so I did. She responded to my email saying that she would talk to her boss but that was two weeks ago. It may not be their intent, but messaging that was sent to me by this dealership was terribly unprofessional. There are plenty of cars out there and I won't go back.

Bought my first diesel truck from them and less than 1000 miles have been put on it, have had nothing but problems with this dealership as a whole!! First they lost my license plates from the car I traded in and accused me of having them, which delayed the tital transfer over a month and a half, then the 2 cars I traded in did not get paid off right away, I had to call the dealership to tell them to pay the cars off at the bank because it was looking like I was late on my payments but had traded them in, which I have traded cars in before at other places without ever having an issue. Then I had asked for the truck to be run through the diagnostic system and have the oil changed b4 I picked it up to make sure b4 I bought it that all was well because diesel trucks are so expensive..... they said sure no problem and told me everything was good but never showed me proof....and when I called asked for the records of this diagnosis due to a huge $5,000, repair bill, the manager Jim Steincamp promised he would get to the bottom of this..... never ever ended up calling me back!!! This is your local Chevy dealership at hard work for you...Not!!! I have never in my life had this much issues buying or trading in a vehicle!!! I gave them every opportunity to try to make things right and they never got back to me...... I would never go back!! I will never recommend this dealership... not even to my dog!!! Do not trust them!! They can't handle the paperwork process, and they definitely can't handle being honest or trusted!! Worst dealership ever!!! Never ever go through this dealership!! If I could rate them less than one star I definitely would!!

Macke Motors has a propensity for being incompetant. I took my car there because it smelled like burning metal. They fixed a coolant leak and two other minor issue and charged me $660. A few days later the burning metal smell came back and my check engine light came on. I took it to Sears in Fort Dodge and they diagnosed the problem in less than 10 minutes as the sepintine belt gears next to my AC air compressor were not turning properly and sending metal shavings into my engine compartment. Macke had my car for a week and didn't notice? I think not. Additionally, they never gave me a quote for the work they did. That is a problem when it is such a large bill especially when that didn't even fix the problem. Also, Ms Macke was extremely rude to me when I inquired about possible payment plans because they did work without giving an estimate. She literally said "DO YOU EVEN HAVE A JOB?" Really ma'am, yes I do I work for the US Government thanks. I did call and complain about them not fixing the obivous problem with my car and demanded they pick up my car at Sears and fix it for free, which they did. The total experience was ridiculous and potentially dangerous if it had broken down on the side of the road in the country in negative temperatures.Additionally, another family member took a vehicle to Macke and again they failed to actually fix the problem. It is still unclear if their neglience was what caused this car to catch fire on the road while a 16 year old was driving it. Yeah I think they failed epically again.
