Don't take your car here! I would never visit this location again. The customer service and communication was terrible! Less than a year ago I took my car here for what I thought was a cracked oil pan. When the car was finished they told me the oil pan wasn't cracked and even showed me the oil pan with no cracks. They informed that it was my oil censor inside of the pan but still purchased a new oil pan with out asking me and charged me almost 900.00 bucks! Less than a year later the oil pan is leaking from the gasket and is under warranty. When I called them about this they informed me that I would have to wait a month to get my car in and if it wasn't a warranty issue they would charge me a 90 dollar diagnostic fee. Just unreal and the way he talked to me made me feel even worse. A few weeks ago I also took my daughters car in to have it inspected and was charged the same 90 dollar diagnostic fee, I understand shops do charge these fees but they should be transparent about it every time. There are posted price in the shop for oil changes and what not but nothing about a diagnostic fee. I will not be going back!

We've been having our cars services here since we moved to the area 3 years ago and have always been very pleased. The service we've received has always been timely and honest with costs comparable to other repair shops.

NEVER taking our cars to Lund ever again! Late Spring 2021, my Subaru Outback started making AWFUL noises...wouldn't start, wouldn't drive. Had it towed on a flatbed to Ramsey to be checked out, as Ramsey is where I've taken my car for every service save for a couple of times at the urging of family members to try a local place down the street from where I live (Lund Motors, Waukee. Never again). Jerry checked the car over & notified me that the timing chain had come undone, whipped around the egine destroying everything within reach. He then moved into next steps: 1) go through each part one by one and replace only the parts needed, or 2) swap out for a salvage engine. I opted for the salvaged engine swap. Upon further discussion with Jerry, I mentioned that we had JUST had that timing chain replaced at Lund Motors, Waukee about a half a year earlier. We had taken my car in to have the clutch slave and clutch master cylinder replaced due to it giving out on us. While at Lund, the service tech advised and urged us to replace the timing chain because "this is the typical mileage to replace it at"- even though ours didn't show signs of being close to failure. We reluctantly agreed to after the tech advised us that NOT replacing it now could and would likely end up in the timing chain breaking apart due to wear, tear, and age and whipping around destroying the engine....so we went with his advice specifically to AVOID having the engine destroyed. Instead, our engine was destroyed anyway due to faulty repairs by Lund Motors, Waukee. We paid around $1k total for them to replace the chain, and then for my car to be towed on a flatbed to Ramsey- all because of bad advice from Lund to replace the chain to avoid the engine being destroyed. My husband and I realized Lund should be footing the bill for this destroyed engine. I promptly reached out to Lund and spoke with the son, Jeff (who is a bit more customer service oriented than his father, in my husband's and my experience). He was immediately apologetic in person and insisted they would cover the cost, that it was the right thing to do. My husband and I were relieved to see such top notch customer service still alive today! We began coordinating 3 way calls between Ramsey Subaru and Lund Motors so my husband and I could be in on the conversation between Lund Motors and Ramsey to set up the work, agree to the work being done, covering payment, timeline, etc. Everything was good to go, or so we thought. A few weeks into this, I start getting calls from Jeff at Lund, and he admitted his dad had been breathing down his neck, angry about eventually paying "the man" (Subaru/Ramsey) for the work. Jeff began pressuring me and blaming me for ever bringing my car to Lund in the first place, since when he asked if I would allow Lund to repair/replace the engine and I insisted on Ramsey doing the work since they have NEVER failed me at Ramsey, and any mistakes (very few) they've made they have always made right at their own cost-- top notch customer service from both Dennis Grooms and Jerry Van Sickel ever since I began having my Outback serviced there in 2012. He tried to pressure me into only being able to have the work fixed at Lund, to which I adamantly refused and said, "No offense, but I don't trust your techs to do the work well. You've caused my engine to be destroyed, and the only other time I've come to Lund was for an oil change and your tech had us standing out in the freezing rain for over 20 minutes while he fumbled around on youtube trying to find a way to turn off my check engine light because he didn't know what to do. This was after he even asked my husband and I if we could just leave the check engine light on since he wasn't sure how to turn it off. This was after they had told us the car was done, ready to be paid for and picked up. It was so unprofessional and lacking. I said I am absolutely done giving Lund any further chances to work on my car; I want it to be repaired by the service shop that has never failed me in 9 years. Jeff Lund gave in at that point and agreed again to cover the cost, but this was not until after he was pretty menacing about trying to blame ME, the customer, for allowing them to do the work that led to the problem! It was horrendous behavior. Over the next month or so, Lund flip flopped back and forth over paying (we have a ton of this on video and will likely take it to small claims). In the end, the Bob/the dad owner and Jeff Lund (manages the front desk at Lund) refused to make good on the agreements made with Ramsey and with us, and left $1,000 of the bill unpaid, even after Jeff Lund confirmed again they would cover the full cost the day before due. Jerry (service advisor) & Ramsey Subaru helped take care of the uncovered costs Lund stated they would take care of. Ramsey for the customer service win! They helped tremendously and went to bat for us countless times, and didn't make a dime.

I had my front brakes replaced here. Afterward, there was a rattling sound under the car whenever I would go over a bump. It's an older car, so I let it go. A couple weeks later, my caliper fell off while driving down the interstate. I barely made it home and had to call to get my car towed in (to a different auto body location). They asked if I had had my brakes fixed or replaced recently and I confirmed. They said they would strongly recommend calling the location and getting my money back because whoever had done it, hadn't replaced the caliper correctly and the bolt was missing. Of course I called Lunds and they denied that it was their fault and would not refund me any money. What a waste of $200 for towing and a simple fix. Will not go back here.

Lund motors is always reliable. I'm so grateful to have found them and that they are close to where I live. They're absolutely dependable always! And they know who I am and they take good care of me and my family's autos. I have a Mini Cooper and I trust them to with the work that needs to be done. I would recommend them above anyone else in the DSM Waukee location.

I've been a long time customer of Lund Motors. The reason I like doing business with them is that Jeff at the front desk is so friendly and knowledgeable and can work in my vehicle quickly. Prices are reasonable and the service is quality. They do work we're it's needed and don't add extras.
