I ordered takeout and the wait was less than 10 min on a Saturday afternoon. I got the al pastor (marinated pork) and carne asada (steak) tacos with extra onions and cilantro, at no extra cost. The tacos come in two corn tortillas filled to the brim with meat and veggies which isn't always the case at some joints, so I was very pleased about that. The lady who rung my order up also gave me 2 containers of green salsa for just the 2 tacos I ordered, so that was generous of her. They also have red salsa here but I tend to gravitate towards the salsa verde. The carne asada (my favorite meat selection) didn't wow me as much as their al pastor did. Of all the taco places I've sampled, I have yet to find an al pastor taco marinated and seasoned as well as my friend's mom's al pastor. But I think my search is over. The pork was juicy and bursting with flavors and spices, with also a hint of smokiness from being fresh off the grill, truly an A+! Even their corn tortilla was soft, with the right amount of firmness to provide good hold when you're munching into that taco. Each taco goes for $1.85. I'm not sure if they have special days where the tacos come at a discount like some places do. Will definitely come back for another go at their al pastor tacos, and give their other items a try too!

Stopped in here with the UYE Taco group. It is a very open feeling restaurant with a little grocery store off to the side. The owner was very active friendly and involved. He was first concerned that everyone was being well taken care of. Our server was a very young lady who was trying her best on her first day of work. I am sure it would be a different service experience on another trip. I am looking forward to stopping in here for some different things.I had three taco's the carne asada, al pastor, and camaron. All were very good. My favorite being the asada, The shrimp were battered and fried. (not my style) But still very tender and yummyGuacamole was great!!!!

***This didn't age well, after ordering Los Compayes from UberEats on Wednesday and loving It I decided to go in and try it for myself - Given a 5 from my UberEats experience to a 2 star going in person. I'm calling in and place my order I get told 15-20 minutes on the phone. I arrive around 15 minutes later and say I'm here to pick up for X and they look confused, they ask me again and I say my name at which point the cashier and a cook get an a argument and a ticket is being waved in someone's face. Now as a front of house manager of a restaurant I knew exactly what had happened, the kitchen didn't see my order and thus it was not started. It's been about 30 minutes now and I am getting annoyed, no one has spoken to me about the mishap that I was already aware of, they just thought not to inform me, until the head chef comes over to me and spews some BS about having "fresh food", I was shocked that someone would come up to my face like that and lie. After about another 10 minutes, 44 minutes in total from time of order being placed. I go to pay and all the sudden the prices had changed from what I was told on the phone, thankfully they fixed that part, but then there credit card machine stops working and they start asking if I have cash, I've already waited more then double the time now you want me to get another form of payment, I was legit 5 seconds from walking out of the restaurant and giving my money to a business that would treat me with more respect, on top of that I was charged an additional 1.75 to use my card when my order was over $30. They also do not wear masks properly in the store, Mask are to be worn over your nose. This is the worst I have ever been treated in Omaha, even if there food is good as explained below it was not worth the level of customer service which I received. If at my restaurant I lost someone's order and made them wait double the time I would have offered a free meal or gave them 50% off. Good food, really bad customer service.

I had some really, really delicious tacos at Los Compayes. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area in need of a quick taco fix. Here's what I tried: Beef birria and tongue tacos, planchata style, meaning the cheese was placed between the two corn tortillas and ironed pressed. The meat was plentiful and juicy and topped with the perfect amount of cilantro and onion. The third taco in my lineup was a regular al pastor. Equally delicious, even without the cheese between the tortillas. Each taco was around $2 a piece.Other notes: +You get complimentary chips and three types of house salsas sample and pour on your meal (at least that's what I do).+The decor is very minimal. You can even look through a window and watch the cooks at work.+There's also a substantial grocery connected to the restaurant. You'll find a full service meat counter. They even have a full tortilla-making operation in the back of the store. I'll be back for some fresh salsa and chips!Even despite a few service hiccups (our server was like brand new), I liked everything about my experience at Los Compayes.

Yummy! I'm sick of my own cooking--but many restaurants' food is just not worth the calories! The tastes from this place are just great!. We sampled many dishes and all were good. The papa Loca is so good that we order an extra one every time now and split it for lunch the next day. The red and green sauces are simple and tasty. Best of all, when I called in about a slight mistake the owner was friendly and offered to fix it In whatever way worked best for me. He won a customer for life! Im going to bring my sisters as soon as restaurants are safe and until then Los Compayes will be my go to takeout place!

Hidden away in a market (that features a GREAT looking tortiilleria), this was truly a hidden gem. I enjoyed the menudo, a papusa and 3 wonderful tacos (cheek an tongue). The group all seemed to enjoy their meals and well and the planchata style taco was a hit. The gentleman in charge was AMAZING - very engaging, helpful and knowledgeable. I will definitely be back here at some point as well!

I had the cachete, asada, and shrimp Taco Planchado. The beef cheek and asada were excellent. The shrimp is pre-made fried shrimp (think chinese buffet) diced. Stay away from that one.Ordering Planchado tacos means that there is cheese grilled onto the doubled up tortilla. I like it and this option separates Los Compayes from all the other Taquerias in Omaha. The tortilla chips were hot and fresh. Three sauces are brought to the table. The green sauce (jalepeno salsa) was mild and cooling. The salsa fuego had a great flavor and had a much more heat. The red salsa was good but predictable. This one is for local Nebraskans that can't handle anything with more heat than a marinara. Agua Frescas on tap were Horchata and Jamaica. I had the Jamaica. It was light and refreshing, but nothing unique. This is definitely a place I would come back to. The service is better than average for this type of joint. The food offerings are different from the standard Taqueria. See the menu in the photos. Agua Frescas, flan, and other items are available but not on the menu.

WHAT????? Good Mexican food in Nebraska.???? You have to be kidding. Wait....how about GREAT Mexican food in Nebraska??...You have to be nuts....Well, I must be nuts then. I grew up in a Latino community, I've eaten in Mexico, I've been invited over to Mexican family events and picnics....I have eaten GREAT Mexican food before. Los Compayes comes extremely close to the best I have ever had.I drove by this place, not looking for Mexican food but I saw it out of the corner of my eye. Not hungry, I still had to try something from there. So I ordered a pork taco and a pork gordita. They also have a serve yourself salsa bar. 5 kinds of salso, chopped onions and cilantro, jalapeno's, etc.The taco was served like I had in Mexico. Two small corn tortillas doubled up, folded in half with meat in the crease. Just like being in Mexico.....especially loading it up with things from the salsa bar. That cart in the streets of Rosarita still has this place beat, but not by that much.I also ordered a gorita, and it was GREAT. It's like a pita bread but really corn meal stuffed with ....pork, beans, cheese. The corn meal exterior is fried on both sides. It comes out like a meat patty but thinner. This was made by hand and carefully grilled on a stove. Wow eating it hot with the cheese dripping out....and the meat hot juicyThis place could compete in Los Angeles.

VEGAN Burrito option in South O!!!I was so excited that Los Compayes can make a vegan burrito upon request!!! The very fluent in English host was SO FRIENDLY. She brought me the two packages of the two types of flour tortillas they use-both contain vegetable shortening NOT lard. I explained that I wanted a bean burrito with all of the plants that they have (lettuce, onion, tomato), NO cheese, NO sour cream. So they made me a vegan burrito, and were happy to do so!!! Restaurant is bright, colorful and friendly. Lots of room for seating, the tables are not jammed together. Lots of parking out front. Little well stocked, clean grocery store right next to the restaurant.I'm so excited that I now have 3 authentic vegan buritto options in South O!! El Ranchito, Birrieria El Chalan and now Los Compayes!!

I have been eating here since they've opened, and they're still my favorite place to get tacos and tortas, even after living in Texas. It's just not as good as Los Compayes. I am so glad to be back, and I am so glad I still get to enjoy the amazing food!
