First time trying Legacy Chophouse. Had a very modern, sexy aesthetic. We unfortunately did not get the appetizer we ordered but love the return of a classic salad bar. I had the filet kabobs that were incredibly tender and the garlic mashed potatoes. This is definitely an elevated date night but overall was impressed.

Omaha has long been a beacon of beef, known for some of the best steaks in the country--if not the world. Anytime I host out-of-town friends, family, or clients, their first request is almost always a steak. Because when in Rome...For years, I've felt confident that no matter where we were in Omaha, a quick Yelp search would yield solid steakhouse recommendations. That is, until recently--when Legacy Chophouse managed to do the unthinkable: serve a steak so uninspired, so offensively bland, that it single-handedly tarnished the city's proud beef legacy.I know what you're thinking: Wow, Justin, that's dramatic. It can't be that bad.Yes. It. Can. And yes, it is. Allow me to explain.Walking in, the place was dimly lit, and once we were seated, it was borderline deafening thanks to the high, exposed metal ceiling. Their website and Yelp profile claim it's the area's newest "modern-rustic steakhouse." I'm confused--does the wood paneling make it rustic? Is it the food? Because I wasn't getting much "modern" beyond the LED-lit fireplace, which, honestly, looked like it belonged in a high-end vape lounge. But the real identity crisis? They call themselves Legacy Chophouse... while also claiming to be the newest steakhouse in the area.Different words. Different meanings. But maybe that explains the overall confusion here--because that theme carried right into the food.I'll admit, I did like the comfortable lounge chairs, which could have made for a great dining experience--had we not been sitting in a concert hall masquerading as a restaurant. Reading the menu under the dim table lights was a challenge, but no worries--we had nearly 15 minutes to squint our way through it before a server acknowledged our existence. The Service: A Masterclass in AbsenceWhen our server finally arrived, he seemed completely unaware we had been sitting there waiting, so we spared him the reminder and just hit him with the full order. Given his frazzled demeanor, my confidence in getting the correct food was low, but hey, hope is a powerful thing.A small bright spot: the salad bar. Stocked with fresh, crisp ingredients and ice-cold plates, it was the closest thing to a highlight of the evening. I'd heard whispers that the folks behind The Drover (a true Omaha steakhouse institution) were somehow involved with Legacy Chophouse, so I was thrilled to see that influence here. But if they really are I wish they had brought more than just a decent salad bar. Maybe something minor--like, I don't know, flavor? The Drinks: A Brief Respite Before the DownfallBack at our table, our drinks were waiting--and they were great. Perfectly crafted. Kudos to the bar staff. Unfortunately, that would be our first and last round, as our server practically vanished after the food arrived.I didn't have time to express my concerns before he disappeared, mainly because I was too busy trying not to choke on the driest prime rib I've ever encountered. Ordered medium-rare. Served well-done, leathery, and devoid of any natural juices. I drowned it in au jus in a desperate attempt to revive it, but the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.Across from me, my date wrestled with her 6oz sirloin and Brussels sprouts, her expression making it clear that she, too, was in the trenches. They say you eat with your eyes first--and based on her face, this was shaping up to be a battle. The Food: A Steakhouse Without the SteakBoth of our steaks were bland and uninspired, completely failing to live up to even the lowest of Omaha steakhouse standards. The Brussels sprouts? Somehow both mushy and flavorless. My mashed potatoes? Cold, dry, and in desperate need of seasoning. We tried to add salt, only to find that the shaker was filled with sea salt--which, unfortunately, was paired with a shaker hole not designed for sea salt. A square peg, round hole kind of situation. Much like this entire restaurant.Ultimately, the biggest fans of the meal were our dogs, who feasted on the leftovers after we cut them into chewable portions.Final Verdict: The Only "Legacy" Here is DisappointmentThe restaurant's Yelp page describes it as a "charming steakhouse with a foggy fireplace and standout lobster mac & cheese." That just about sums it up--if you're here for ambiance and overpriced lobster mac, you might leave happy.I truly wanted this place to be great, especially since the west side desperately needs more than just sports bars and pub fare. But this wasn't just disappointing--it was an egregious assault on the taste buds! And if the fine folks behind The Drover are, in fact, partners? My advice: Stay very silent --so your actual legacy remains intact. Because Legacy Chophouse is currently living up to exactly one word in its name:Chopped.Good luck, Legacy Chophouse - ya know if the steak/chophouse doesn't work, Legacy Lobster Mac has a nice ring to it.

Our first time here for a very large birthday party was good! I love the renovations they've done on this interior, it is so classy, and upscale. The tables and chairs are beautiful and well picked. I loved the huge salad bar, and I ordered that with the steak. It was really great, overall maybe overpriced $26, but my husband was paying hehe. We also got thr cowboy caviar and it was excellent. Overall the service was slow but there were multiple large parties, so understandable. I ordered a mocktail drink, then a soda water, they did place water pitchers at the table which is nice. Bread is also served with dinner, very good. Overall great experience, we will definitely be back.

Very glad we visited Legacy chophouse. We'd heard some things about its connection to the Drover and were very curious to see for ourselves. In comparing the two, legacy chophouse was slightly better in most categories.I loved the atmosphere. Slightly upscale, but still warm and comfortable. It feels reminiscent of jams and upstream, but definitely still has its own vibe. The table lights were very low to the table so it was hard to see my food. If the lamps were just a little taller, it would lend a lot more light to the eating area. I feel like there's a fine line between ambience and not being able to see. One thing that was odd was the salt shaker. They put coarse sea salt into an egg shaped salt shaker with a teeny tiny hole on top, so it took a really long time to get any salt out at all. I ended up turning it upside down and pouring a little out by opening up the refill stopper. A few notes about the food... Everyone enjoyed their entrées tremendously and there were very few complaints at a six person table. Fabulous prime rib. Cooked to a perfect medium rare. Needed a little salt. The brussels sprouts were quite tasty. Lobster bisque was too tomato based, and while there were some generous chunks of lobster in it, I just did not enjoy the flavor. FYI there's a $6 up charge for bisque as a soup option when you order a steak. The kids meals are pricey, but have very generous portions. I would recommend scaling back the amount of food offered, and also the price. Also a $3 up charge for chocolate milk for kids meal. Would have expected it to include a beverage. The service was fabulous. And the owner was very hands-on throughout the evening. He greeted us when we came in, and then unfortunately, a server spilled almost a whole tray of food onto a lady sitting across from us, and the owner was on site within 30 seconds to help his staff clean up. Handled the mishap very well. They've only been in business for about three months and they're getting a lot right. Just a couple of tweaks I would make, but I will definitely be back.

This new spot in Legacy is atmospheric, elegant, unique, and yet friendly all at the same time. The foggy fireplace adds quite an effect, and my friend and I were lucky enough to be seated next to it. Our server was very efficient and helpful. They have a separate person to take cocktail orders versus food orders, which made the experience feel unique in the level of care being provided for the meal. The lobster Mac and cheese was simply one of the most elevated Mac and Cheese experiences that I have ever had. The cheese was thick and creamy, and slightly sharp. What had my friend and I in surprise was that the garlic bread that accompanied it tasted like it had truffle incorporated, which was delicious! It also had a strong rosemary flavor, and was buttery flaky and melt in your mouth. While this location is definitely family friendly - you could also have a fancy date night here. Come support this new Omaha spot!

My recent visit to Legacy Chops House left me with mixed feelings. While the restaurant's ambiance was fantastic and the service was good, the Broccoli Cheddar Soup I ordered turned out to be a significant letdown. The soup was unusually thick and lacked any distinct flavor that one would expect from a traditional Broccoli Cheddar Soup. I had one bite and just could not stomach another. The soup's texture was heavy and unappetizing, making it difficult to enjoy. Now the salad bar was fantastic and I do want to return to hopefully have a five star experience.

Came in for a date night, ordered drinks, appetizer, and steaks. The food came out very quickly - soup was out right after we got our appetizer and steaks were out before we were halfway done with the soup. Everything except the soup was lukewarm (like shredded cheese not even melting on the loaded mashed potatoes lukewarm). We let the waiter know, she brought us boxes and let us know the manager was looking at our bill - they ended up taking off 10% which was just enough to cover the tax. It was still $200+ for a dinner we had to take home to warm up ourselves. For this price we wish we'd gone to Flemings instead but want to give this place a try.
