Lake Anita is a nice little campground in southwest Iowa. They have spots with electric hook ups for RVs or tent and then non electric spots too. It was pretty basic: a lake, playground, basketball court, beach, and docks. Each spot has a fire ring with a cooking grate and picnic table. Every few spots is a water pump. They have several bath houses around the grounds. It was a pretty quiet time, no one was rowdy or too loud, most people kept to themselves. The campground offers wood and fun events like movies each Saturday. Great hosts, easy to find and book!

My mom and I drive 50 miles east to get a little piece of peaceful Iowa.Lake Anita State Park is a quaint place that's the perfect getaway for those in the region. The trail surrounding the lake is perfect for an extended stroll, and there are so many pretty butterflies, birds and more to see. Bring your camera, as you may be surprised at all there is to photograph.I suggest making a day of it. Grab breakfast at The Weather Vane Cafe in Anita, then head to the park for a walk/bike ride that will take you into the early afternoon. Perfect! If you're driving through Anita on Highway 6, there is a sign directing you to the park.

Exactly what we were looking for-Needed a nice place to stop while on a road trip and get a good night sleep. The campground is very clean, quiet, and very pretty. We arrived about 1am and were able to pay the $11 via drop box at the entrance. Upon waking up we saw the beautiful lake, and rolling hills that surround the space. Although the camp spots are close to each other, there were many places to space ourselves away from others. We stayed on a Friday, and there was an abundance of room. Bet it's great on a weekday :)

Best campground off I80 yet! Beautiful views and breeze off the lake. Very nice shower and restroom facilities. We were only an overnight but can see this is a popular weekend destination. Oh, and the price is right! $19 for full hookup.

Stopped at this lovely campground toward the end of our month long,16 state, journey. This is the best campground of all that we stayed. Beautiful shaded camp sights with views of Lake Anita. Picnic table and fire ring at every sight. The sights may be a little close when the park is crowded but not as close as most commercially run campgrounds I have used. The grounds and the bathrooms are immaculate. Kudos to the camp host and groundkeeping staff. We stayed at state and national campgrounds where we paid twice as much AND had to pay to take a shower. Full hook up is $19.00, electric/water $16.00 and primitive $11.00. Saved so much that my honey took be to The Redwood Steak House for a great meal.

This is my favorite place to go just to get out of the house. The lake is huge! It's amazing for fishing, searching for deer, and camping. It's my favorite place to fish because there are so many and it's not hard to catch.

Great campground, small sites but long enough. Clean bathrooms, wood for sale and they loan out games and on Saturday night they have outdoor movies weather permitting. Walkways and trails easy to walk, fishing and boating and a swim beach. Would definitely come here again.

As far as state parks go (which are usually very nice, the "5 star hotels" of campgrounds) this one is on the lower end. It's by a pretty lake, but campsites are very close together with no trees or anything between them. There were no enforced quiet hours so it was very noisy the night I stayed. It was cheap though - only $11 for a walk-in campsite.
