La Sierra

My family and I came from KC to visit the zoo, and found this little place on Yelp. It is an authentic, family-owned place. The owner's daughter was the one taking our order at the counter, and was very patient and helpful as we looked over the menu.The ancho-chile pork that I ordered was the best thing I have eaten in any mexican restaurant, including the ones in Mexico. The depth of flavor was amazing. I wish they were closer to me, as I would eat this dish once a week if I could. The food that my family received was excellent as well, and the margaritas she made us were perfect. I can't say enough good things about this place, and will be sure to visit every time I'm in Omaha.

I had been wanting to go here for a long time. Encouraged by the Yelp reviews of unique and delicious food and great service, I decided to give it a try.I loved it! I am happy to agree with the other Yelpers.It's clean and comfortable. Casual, order-at-counter, I like that.The menu board was easy to see - the only confusing thing was that the dishes were unfamiliar! I go to a lot of Mexican restaurants but I hadn't seen these Durango-style meals before!The young woman working there was Super Helpful and told us about everything. I think that it's unfamiliar food to a lot of people.We got the cucumber water, I ordered the chorizo and potato platter, and my friend got the poblano and ground beef quesadilla.Both of us loved the food. Most of the entrees are mild, but are served with squeeze bottles of green and red salsas, and these are VERY tasty salsas.

Great lunch at La Sierra! It was hard to not order everything (including a hot dog from the restaurants cart across the street!) the service was accommodating and very friendly - we had a lot ofQuestions! Plus the whole space was nice and clean, can't wait to get back!

DO NOT eat here unless you want authentic, fresh 'real' mexican food with exceptional service. 1st visit here with my 107yo Mother. We frequented the 'Bohemia' area back in the 60's & 70's, so thought I would revisit the area. My choice for La Sierra was determined by the YELP & Google reviews which are exceptional. Upon entering, I believe Brenda noticed my unfamiliar surroundings, so she graciously came over to the table, brought menus and explained their process. We ordered the 'Potatoes with cheese Gorditas' and of course two beers..... :-)The food temp was just right and tasty. This place will for sure be on my eating out list when I revisit Omaha. Highly recommend.

Just found this place (how?!)...very good! I can't wait to try all the different options, and drinks! Today I went with the Asado Del Puerco quesadilla and a coke. Quesadilla was oozing with cheese and meat, perfect. Lady working the front counter was very kind, attentive, and even turned on College Football on one of the TVs when she saw me watching it on my phone. A+ for service.For $8, I was hoping the quesadilla came with beans/rice, but next time I'll make sure to ask. First time mistake. Definitely will be back!

Yesterday we tried out La Sierra's hot dog truck! It's perfectly located right across the street from the full indoor restaurant. The guy working the truck was super nice and the service was quick. We got two hot dogs, wrapped in bacon topped with peppers, ketchup, mayo, onion, tomato, & pico de gallo. When I tell you this hit the spot - IT DID! So refreshing and filling. 11/10 would recommend!

Excellent service, Clean, Friendly staff, and awesome food. Highly recommend. The gorditas, burritos, and quesadillas were all delicious.

Came in with friends and their family. Saw this on yelp and saw the gorditas which I can never find and had to check it out. This place did not disappoint!!From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a blonde woman who was just the sweetest, very knowledgeable about the menu and answered everyone's questions. My friends parents who aren't familiar with authentic Mexican food had alot of questions and she was so patient and kind to them! 5 stars just for her!Papas con carne Gordita 9/10Picadillo roja Gordita 9/10Quesadilla y pork 9/10Deshebrada Gordita 10/10Honestly everything was fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced with amazing hospitality.I would 10000% recommend this place and wish I could come back again and again. Sadly, I was just visiting but really missing my San Diego/Tijuana Mexican food and this hit the spot!

Food was very special! Everything is homemade and it makes the food flavors really amazing. You will smile when eating! Special recognition to the gorditas which are baked and not fried. The dessert empanadas, either strawberry or apricot, or delicious close to your meal. You'll be pleased with anything you choose Brenda, Abby, Amalia, and Angel are the family team that makes this all happen. What a welcoming and delightful experience. You will not be disappointed! Highly recommend!!!!

Absolutely wonderful first time experience. The quality and authenticity of the food is second to none. The service and kindness of the staff stood out. I can't say enough good things about this little place. The space itself is perfect, clean and adorable. I am still thinking of the food. We no longer live in Omaha, but we will be telling friends and family about this absolute gem!
