JuJu’s Vegan

Owned by a super nice dude- I forgot to add sauce to my side and he was super cool about it, even when i proceeded to drop that sauce all over his floor....Now I was hesitant to come here at first because of the lack of reviews on Yelp. Truth is Yelp just doesn't know about this spot yet, but Google and Facebook reviews sure do! 50+ reviews on EACH, 5 stars are frequent and there's TONS of photos of food. If you're reading this, go here. This is the only New Orleans style vegan place I've ever been to-- I've been to a couple other black owned soul food places, but never a New Orleans specific-- with hush puppies and creole potato salad- things I've never had before that tasted AMAZING!!! Hard pressed not to come here again the same day in a row before I head out- I'm just passing through Lincoln but I will DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone I know in Nebraska and can see myself going out of my way to stop here again. Legendary stuff. I've had my fair share of seitan ribs- even made some myself. These are the best seitan ribs I've had- ever. The slapping sauce is great, I'm pretty sure this is the one of the only places around you can actually get vegan remoulade and creole potato salad. I also got the kids meal of chicken seitan - it had 2 lemon pepper fried pieces and some crinkle cut fries. Perfect for me because I was interested in seeing how it tasted but didn't want to commit to another entree. It was nice and crispy, it wasn't too much for a kid at all- nicely balanced spicing, not too much pepper or nothing. ( I'm now wondering about the Spicy chicken sandwich and Juju's spice blend - the former I'm pretty sure may be a bit like Popeye's chicken sandwich that is always selling out? I wouldn't know but I'm sure it's awesome. Juju's spice blend had me curious I was afraid the spices may be dry dusted on there and be too much for me. Maybe I'll come back and see if i can order extra sauces and see if they'll just sub a tiny bit of spice blend for me so i can doll it out. )I'm really surprised i wasn't overwhelmed with spiciness. It was a really great spice level, it had a good kick that wasn't overwhelming. 100% recommend this place, check out the reviews on Google and Facebook if you want more pictures of dishes and reviews. I love Yelp but not enough people on this app have popped in here! I was so glad I got to try everything I want to for under $20 with generous portions and affordable pricing - something you don't often see at vegan places.

Hush puppies were excellent. The soul bowl w/ dirty rice was meh. I'd love to see something more interesting in the bowl. Will I return? Maybe.

Amazing soul food. Amazing vegan food. I got the "rib sandwich" and it was sorta like a big honkin vegan McRib, except you didn't have to wonder what weird shit was in the patty. Super tasty and filling. The seasoning they put on the fries def has some apple in it. It's not overly sweet it just makes them very addictive. Great job JuJus!

Stopped by for a quick lunch after a meeting at the capital... Wanted to support the vegan community... Was met by a wonderful young man that guided me to an excellent selection taco hut so delicious! And unbelievably affordable... Wish this was in Omaha!! I'll be back when I get to Lincoln.. thank you so much for the experience

When traveling to see family, from Texas to Utah, we detour a bit and make sure we stop at JuJus. It's still outstanding! The menu is getting larger, the chef is on site and very friendly, and ordering on line is easy! I recommend the Soul Bowl and the fritters!

Disclaimer: I'm not vegan, but I've got a friend who is and I wanted to treat them to lunch. The food was really good. Not just good for being vegan food, but good full stop. I will be back. I was pleasantly surprised given that I've never had a true vegan meal before. I can absolutely recommend the chix sammich. It was delicious and I'm happy to support local business!

We were really glad to find a vegan restaurant in Lincoln. We ordered rice&beans and "fried chicken" seitan. The main dishes were pretty good but the sides were lacking. The power greens were not what we were expecting and in our opinion overcooked. The hush puppies were good but very spicy and the sweet potatoes were good but about half the order were super overcooked and black. The beignets were ok but very heavy. I love the idea and the mains were good.

The food is absolutely incredible. The atmosphere is comfortable and artistic. It smells amazing as soon as you walk in the door.

How on earth this place has received 5 star reviews is beyond my comprehensive. My daughters and I ordered the jambalaya and red beans and rice. I tried both. First, the food was not even hot....like it was just warmed up. Both my daughter and I noticed that the jambalaya was "granulated"....it was like we were eating dirt. Then, my daughter found a pebble in her food.........a pebble! Did the cook not wash the vegetables? The food had no flavoring....bland as hell. My other daughter ordered the red beans and rice. She also said that the food had no flavoring. I tried it, too. Bland as could be. You would think that a cook (the owner) would have some expertise in making these dishes...but throwing on some collard greens does not make these dishes authentic. The food here is, sadly, very poor.

The vegan chicken and waffles is to die for! Juju's food is the epitome of comfort good, but vegan.
