What a fascinating place in the middle of Omaha!I was in town to visit family, and wanted to see some of the sights. Definitely the guided tour is a must. We went on a Sunday for the first tour of the day (1 PM). It was six of us, along with a couple of other small groups. I believe the tour is limited to 40 people, but was happy that there was maybe half that. The tour is around an hour. Incredibly informative tour guide. I don't think this is suitable for high school kids or under unless they're really interested in history, but for adults it is fascinating. If you happen to be in Omaha, or if you live in Omaha, this is definitely something you need to do.

We were married at the castle 25 years ago and decided to revisit it on a tour for a Saturday date. It was so nostalgic and lovely. We especially liked seeing the parts of the castle that have continued to be renovated over the years as well as the memories of our special day. A beautiful venue and a wonderful piece of Omaha history.

A beautiful castle-like home that's been carefully restored. They offer house tours that not only go into the history of the house, but of the family, the city, and the world at the time. Our docent was really knowledgeable about things, even down to the materials used in each room. The design of the house is really beautiful, particularly the stairs and all the stained glass windows. You can also walk around the grounds and enjoy the gardens and trees. You don't need a reservation in advance to take the tour but you should check the times in advance so you're not waiting around for a while for your tour. Definitely worth a stop if you have a couple of hours free in Omaha!

I was very happy I was able to make it to a tour with one of the knowledgeable docents. The story of the Joslyn family and the building of the grounds is very interesting. The craftsmanship is truly extraordinary. If you enjoy history or architecture you should make a point of taking the tour.

We went on one of their scheduled tours, Thursday at 2:00.They open the doors 15 minutes before the tour officially starts. No reservations needed. Admission is reasonable. There is plenty of private parking. The tour starts with a short video then your tour guide takes you on the house tour. Our tour guide was really informative, had stories, and was funny. She kept the attention of my 17 and 20 year old sons. I think George and Sarah would be proud of how well the house was being kept. They also have a gift shop with cute souvenirs.

The Joslyn family were major benefactors to many Omaha institutions, including the Art Museum. The Joslyn Castle was originally built as their home and served for many years as the headquarters for the Omaha City Schools. Consequently, many of the historic elements were lost due to numerous renovations over the years but the Castle is being restored (as money allows) and many historic elements are being uncovered, rediscovered or restored. The tour guides provide a good history of the Castle and of the City of Omaha. The guide on our tour was quite knowledgeable about the history of the building and the City.Well worth the time to tour. Be sure to check tour dates/times and the availability of tours - the castle is NOT open everyday.

This is a beautiful home. It is well kept inside the home and around the gardens. I appreciated our tour guides detailed explanation of each room. It's a shame the gift shop was closed as I had family from England, who would have liked a souvenir.
