Joe is a nice guy and plays good music, but Chloe, his dog, is the star of this show. Not easy to find, Joe's is down a back alley just south of Jackson Street and behind Jackson Street Tavern (see my review) in the Old Market area, so just follow the signs.Dark and somewhat disorganized, you will find anything from treasures and trash in this massive collection of stuff. Clothes, books, knick-knacks, VHS, 8-track and cassette tapes ... you name it, Joe's got it! And the prices are very reasonable. I paid just 50¢ each for 5 cassette tapes and my wife paid only $3 for two antique books. The highlight of the visit was Joe's dog Chloe. She sits on top of the counter and accepts hugs and stroking from virtually any stranger. She even wears glasses and poses for photos with customers, having been featured in an October 2016 Omaha magazine ("Encounter") spread. Chloe gives hugs and otherwise accepts all of the affection you can muster, so stop by to see Chloe (she's 12) if nothing else.CombatCritic Gives Joe's Collectibles 9 Bombs Out Of 10 ... More Bombs Are Better!

I go to Joe's at least once a week now. He even lets me walk Lucky. I recently purchased a beautiful 1950's dresser with mirror for $40, but I also buy records ($2) and tapes, art prints, books, hardware, tools, cables for my stereo, a leash for my dog, a small fan...Joe's has just about everything I need except groceries.

I love to thrift but more than that I love the idea of buying something that someone else one loved , with the intention to love it just as much. This place is full of treasures and precious items you can't help but wonder what memories were made with them. The owner is very nice and welcoming, the entire store has a warm and nostalgic feel to it you almost feel like you've traveled through time. If you're in the old market this place is a must!

We annually travel through Omaha and Joe's is always on the list. If you are into hunting for treasures, this is the place to go. Yes it is dark. Yes it is damp. Yes there is sometimes a strange odor. YES there is something fun around every corner. It never fails, I always leave with something as well as later regretting not leaving with more.

This place is fun to wander through (in the daylight!!! It does have a little bit of a dank basement feel-not for the faint of heart) because it's full of stuff you would find at garage sales, your grandmothers basement/attic, or a museum of 1950-2000's articles. Hey you never know, you could find something rare worth hundreds!About 8 years ago I bought a old '70's bike there, and it served me well for about 4 years. I've also purchased some rustic and vintage house decorations there for DIY projects. They are always up for bargaining and that's half the fun. Some of the stuff there is plain weird and I'm not sure who would buy it...but its a fun thing to do with someone and maybe even reminisce about being an '80s or '90s kid when you stumble across that furby toy. Since craigslist has caught on a lot more in Omaha I wonder if it's made business tight for these collectable guys in the old market and downtown. Im guessing they still do ok because downtown real estate and rent cant be cheap and they're still around!I would recommend it as a fun thing to do when visiting the old market.

They definitely have antiques here. There is also a lot of really dirty, dusty, old junk that I'm not sure will ever sell. But, to each his own?The shop feels mildewy and pretty gross. The ceiling looks like it's falling down. But they have a wide array of items, so you might be able to find something you're looking for.Beware, if you're walking in the back of the shop, there is a creepy Halloween-type display that the shop owner will move when you walk by so you think it's falling down on you and cause you to jump when you're least expecting it. It gave us a good laugh when we watched the people behind us get scared.

I love this store! I have made many pieces and look forward to rummaging through the huge selection! Joe is a warm, helpful man who always chats and has the cutest dog. Do not be discouraged by the dust and clutter, any true thrifter knows the items in his shop are affordable, unique and there are so many ideas for creating something for your home. I highly recommend taking a walk around the furniture section, the old doors section, and especially lots of trinkets throughout to indulge your inner artist/designer urges. I have visited and purchase many items I still treasure to this day. I believe Joe's is a gem . Highly recommend.

Joe's was definitely not my scene, especially checking out loads of other antique-like shops within a block radius. Down an alley and into a hole in the wall - you walk into a junk-filled basement with no rhyme or reason to its madness. Littered with junk - I couldn't find anything that anyone would ever want. I did find a random dog walking around, though - most likely, not for sale. :)

The only thing I could find there was a rude and judgmental person. If your appearance is different than the owner, you will not be welcomed!

Joe is one of the nicest people alive, he is always willing to talk about anything. Sadly, Chloe passed in the last 1-2 years but he has never stopped caring about her and sells photos of her all the time. If you can, please buy one of the photos of Chloe. Come to this store whenever possible, it will be a great experience.
