Stopped in today to Jerusalem Bakery. They opened sometime in the winter of 2018 and I had been meaning to stop in to review them. A few days ago, I saw in the window driving past that they have gyros. The place is sparse. No tables, a few chairs for customers. Some fresh baked goods and others that are in plastic heat shrimped bags similar to what you would expect out of a box of Little Debbie cakes. I ordered a gyro with all the trimmings and selected a pastry with cherry and cream cheese for $2The pastry was different. The cream cheese and fruit was baked in. The dough was a little dry and crumbly. The cream cheese looked like it was baked to death. All in all, not bad. And there are many other things to sample. As far as the gyro goes. There is no sign of a traditional gyro rotating oven. Instead a wax paper wrapped portion of gyro meat was put on an 14x18" table top grill and warmed for a couple of minutes. The gyro was assembled with a traditional pita. A Tzatziki sauce like none that I have ever tasted and cheese that resembles more of a Latino crem fresh than feta cheese. It's 11 am and they are out of tomato.... there was barely a hint of onion. Lots of lettuce with no sign of an olive anywhere. The really bizarre part was it was topped with celery leaves. The gyro meat itself looks like it was bought from the deli counter at a grocery store and was shave cut. I don't think I will try this again. No gyro spit = pass. From the photos, and signs. They make cakes, smoothies and shakes. There is a wide assortment of Latino drinks from Jumex. It's quite a wider gamut of items in this bakery. I would not call it a restaurant as they have no tables. Just lots of display cabinets. Some of them empty. I will have to come in and try some of their other pastries. But coming in at 11am, I would have expected ways of aromas of something being baked.

Went in just to check out the place. Tried one of their mango-papaya-pineapple smoothies which was amazing. Can't wait to go back to try everything else out. The baked items looked really tasty but I never saw anything related to gyros though I did go early afternoonish

Someone said this was a good place for gyros. Boy were they wrong. It was the worst gyro I have ever had. I didn't even finish it. Rusty lettuce, overripe tomatoes, extremely dry meat and no cucumber sauce.

I visited Jerusalen bakery just after 10:00 am. That is when it opens! What Bakery opens at 10am!? This is definitely an Hispanic not Jewish bakery. The peach tart was okay. A little over baked and dry. The mixed berry smoothie was very good. I also saw many cases empty. The pastries and cookies looked very unique so I may have to try again. I would go back for the smoothie. There were only two chairs in the place and the staff wasn't overly helpful to a new customer. They help me and took my money but gave me no guidance on how to get items out of the cases or even if I was to serve myself or have them get pastries. I had to ask them. Overall the pastries were okay but not outstanding. The prices were good and it was clean.

I had look for this bakery since they closed on 2012 and found it on 2700 N 48th St. They make the best authentic Guatemalan Pastries but the tres leches cakes are the best in Lincoln!!! I love this bakery I'm so happy that they are open again. Yelp needs to update the information.
