The J is such a great place with so many amenities available and activities, great workout facility, shows, dance classes you name it. Very helpful and friendly staff. Well kept and modern facility.

I love this place! They just repainted the gym. It looks a little "out there" with the crazy bright blue and yellow but it is nice to have a clean space to workout. The equipment and machines are awesome, the staff is helpful and the people are not stuck up and snotty. I can workout in peace without feeling judged. The pool is nice in the summertime because it does not have too many people. The "free" member workout classes are awesome. I almost always leave feeling refreshed and stronger. The yoga is also really good. No need to pay big bucks anywhere else when you can go to a tried and true yoga class at the JCC!!

This review is for the fitness center. I've been working out here for about three months. The facility is wonderful and the people who work there are super friendly. It's clean and spacious. They have many different programs (sports, swimming, dance) for children and adults. I'm especially pleased with their child care facility. I can work out without worrying about the safety of my little one.Maybe years ago this place had a wait list. I wasn't around back then, but they don't have one now. Everyone is welcome and they never asked about my religious affiliation when I signed up. It's a lot like the Y in pretty much every respect. The monthly fee is more than the Y, but I feel it's fair for the quality of the facility, pools and equipment.

I'm not sure if this is the official name of the Jewish Community Center or not. I think not, but I don't see "the J" itself listed, so whatever. I'm talking about the community center here, not the federation. They're at the same place anyway.I am not Jewish, but let me tell you, this place makes me wish I were! There's a waiting list a mile long to become a member if you're not a Jew, so we never did, but they host one of the best dance programs in the city and my sister and I took classes here for ten years, and got to be as familiar with the place as non-members can be. It's got fantastic athletic facilities in particular, and my Russian-but-not-Jewish husband especially enjoys the library, which has some Russian language materials due to the large Russian Jewish community in Omaha. I've heard good things about the on-site school and nursing home also.Edit: We were told the waiting list was long when we inquired, but that was 15+ years ago and it is possible the policy has changed or the expansion allowed the Center to accommodate more members or something. Perhaps it's time to inquire again. :)

After a bad experience at Omaha Dance Center, I signed my almost 3 year old up for the "Me & My Shadow" dance class at the JCC and I couldn't be more pleased. The JCC was the complete opposite experience. They communicated via email and facebook to get me the information I needed, answered questions (some even before I had to ask), they were quick to respond and very attentive and kind. Our first class was AMAZING. I am pretty sure that you can't get a sweeter teacher than Miss Alyssa! She made the tots and their mommies feel so comfortable and safe and special. We had so much fun! I was afraid that my daughter would fear all dance classes (at least for the next 6-12 months) but after this first class, she's hooked. The other moms were so sweet and we all encouraged each other and each other's little ones. Miss Alyssa had great activities planned and we were active and smiling the whole time. I can't say enough wonderful things about this teacher, class and the JCC. We'll be back for more. Thank you for all you do! xo

I visited and worked out here for the first time today. I asked about the waiting list for non-Jews (see the other reviewer) and was told it's not true. In fact, most of the members are not Jewish.Lovely facility. It was a very busy day and I never felt crowded or had to fight for a machine. 4 stars only because it's pretty expensive. On top of regular membership rates, there is a $500 building improvement charge. It can be spread out over 3 years but this seems pretty outrageous to me.

i was just looking at new gyms the price is pretty much what other gyms are, and there is a one time joining fee, but they do have specials. a new huge outdoor pool will be open memorial day and their personal training is about half what other gyms cost, so if you are in need of personal training i think their price might be one of the best around. new equipment, indoor and outdoor pool, yoga, pilates, classes and spinning.
