They don't list the fact that if you are a twosome on a weekend, you have to pay for THREE to golf as a pair.

This Florida boy was impressed. Most of our courses are pretty flat so the change of scenery was nice. Great conditions - greens rolled consistently. Built over an old rock quarry and surrounded by some nice homes, they don't have a driving range as there simply is nowhere to put it. The clubhouse overlooks some water so it's a great view out the windows. They do have a net to hit into to warm up so they did what they could. What irked me was we showed up as a pair, and with no one else around, we had to pay for 3 golfers to go out as a twosome on a weekend. I've never heard of this - maybe this is a Nebraska thing? Maybe you'd have more people on the golf course if you didn't do that?It was a great day as the course was pretty empty. No one behind us and we only caught up to a foursome on 10 since it's a pretty tough hole. We decided to make a stop at the clubhouse and take a few minutes to just chill to let the foursome get ahead. We never saw them again so they had a good pace staying in front of us. More development coming in as a large area of trees has been cleared out.

Nice course, but worth driving out of Omaha for? I'm not a good enough golfer to comment too much on the speed of the greens or the quality of the fairway grooming, but there are definitely a few things that make Iron Horse unique. I can't compare to Quarry Oaks, but we had a nice time at Iron Horse. Yes there are some very challenging holes - even by standards of good golfers - and we definitely lost a good amount of balls in the water. But at the end of the day, I'd probably play here again. It wasn't to the point of frustration due to the course any more than we could attribute to the 100 degree weather.

So here's the deal, I have golfed since I was seven years old, and while I do not get the opportunity to play nearly as much as I would like to I would like to think that I have a decent perspective of what a good golf course is and what isn't. Ironhorse is absolutely amazing! The views are breathtaking and this is probably my new favorite course. The hazards are a good challenge but not overly difficult to navigate, a good balance. Even the sand traps are well-maintained and appear to have proper draining systems so that you don't have water sitting in those bunkers making a muddy mess. The fairways and greens are well-maintained. I believe the Teebox and green on the fifth hole were a little bit rough, and could use a little bit of work, but otherwise everything was in excellent condition.Nice mix of long and short holes, some straight shots, others dog leg. Definitely worth a trip to Ashland!

I agree with what Tom said, but, I think it definitely deserves better than 3 stars. I mean, a couple holes are kind of stupid, but, at the same time... there are a few holes that are better than anything Quarry Oaks has to offer. #9 and #10 are probably two of the best back to back holes in Nebraska. If you are looking for scenic golf, this will have some of the best holes for you in Nebraska maybe besides Bayside way out west. A strong 4 stars for me. Besides Quarry Oaks, probably my favorite public course in the Lincoln/Omaha area.

First. Greens were in terrible shape and the fairways were the worst I had seen at this course. Second. We booked for 3 people, but one had to back out because there was a family emergency they had to attend to. I paid for the two of us as it was my buddies birthday and went to hit balls. After our round, my buddy mentioned said they charged him as well. I told him to go back in to get reimbursed as I already paid. They told him that we booked for 3 and were charged for 3 even though only two of us played. I went back in to let them know I paid for both of us and that our third had a family emergency (Car Accident). They said that it didn't matter and they would not refund the money. Of course I argued and let them know I would be writing a review. They didn't care and they said management didn't care either. Maybe this is one reason they have 3 stars. I will never play at this course again and if I were you, I certainly would think twice before you book here.!! I 100% would NOT recommend playing here.

Still haven't been back and have talked to several other people who have had very poor experiences from the staff there. Treat people like their business doesn't matter to them and do not care if you return.

I have golfed at many golf courses in Lincoln, Omaha, & in the surrounding area and this course management was incredibly horrible to work with. We made the 45 minute commute & showed up 10 minutes late ( we were greeted with a very short response and felt like a huge inconvenience to the course ) volunteered to tee off from hole 2 and did our best to work with them. We had asked if they would allow us to play hole 1 after 18 and they said no. At hole 9 they sent a group in front of us that backed us up over an hour. Asked for a refund as we were unable to play out back 9 and they were unwilling. I have never witnessed such poor management. At the end of the day everything was being blamed on the GM when in reality the desk clerk was the person hurting the courses business. If you are looking for friendly staff and a enjoyable day of golf you should not waste the gas money to come to this course.

I drove an hour and spent $100 to play 18 holes at this course and didn't even get to play all 18. I cannot explain the amount of disrespect we felt and how poor of an experience it was. If i could leave a zero star review i would. There are a lot of things to complain about. We were going to be 5 minutes late for our tee time and we called in well ahead to let them know. They almost didn't let us play until 3 hours later from our original tee time and we said we would start on hole 2 to not interrupt the flow of play (We easily could've gone off 1 there was no one else teeing off). We asked if we could play hole 1 if it was open once we finished the other 17 and they refused, even though we were cut off by another group on hole 9 which backed up play by over an hour. The ranger was extremely rude and management in general made the experience more of a nuisance than entertainment. We were treated as a huge inconvenience from the moment we got out there. We asked for a refund and they refused to give us one. It's an amazing course to play but not worth the money, time of travel, or enjoyable due to how it's run. Ive played many courses in Lincoln, Gretna and Omaha but nothing compared to how much playing at this course ruined my day. Find another course thats 20 minutes away if you want to golf.
