I have gone to Illumin nearly two years. The first appt after my eyes were tested took nearly two months to get my contacts. Some type of mix up. Then after that point it took me nearly two weeks or more to get someone to call me back when ordering the contacts. I guess there is only one person that funnels the calls so if you miss her your sunk. Now mind you this has been going on for two years. At first I thought it was unusual, nope. Finally have decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd give them two stars or less. The buildings are lovely but the service is terrible.

Perhaps Ilumin is a decent place for eye surgeries, but if you are needing just glasses and/or contacts, avoid this practice!!! My 14yo son was provided the wrong contacts not once, but twice, because the person who "fits" contacts is unlicensed, did not convert the glasses prescription correctly, and did not schedule any follow up. When I confronted the office about it, they blamed it on my child, and said he should have complained if the contacts weren't working. Terrible experience, and horribly inadequate response to my legitimate concerns.

I don't think I can say enough good stuff about Ilumin.I have had 5 procedures done there and all have gone exceptionally well. I have seen / used Drs Arkfeld and Parson for all of my procedures and they are truly the best in their respective fields. I even had a retina tear on a Saturday and both Drs Parson and Arkfeld made special trips in to confirm the tear and do a same day fix. I really don't know what more you could ask for in a medical professional. Their post op care and follow up is of course top notch as well as is the staff at both facilities in Omaha. I truly mean it when I say that i believe both Drs Arkfeld and Parson are Rock Stars! I owe my vision to both of them and will be eternally grateful to them both!

This has been a long process during this COVID time but, this organization seems to NOT CARE for their typically elder patients with developing vision problems. I have recently undergone a series of eye injections. Each appointment I have arrived early only to wait more than 1.5 hours AFTER my scheduled appointment time. I would understand this occasionally happens in All Dr's offices. I am typically patient and understanding of everyone's professional responsibilities. But this is excessive! Seriously, the staff is huddled, laughing, and talking loudly behind the reception desk. Just rude! When I asked for a written explanation of my ailment and treatment, I was sent an "unreadable" document. The print is comically small and while some of the tiny print was at least clear, the portion regarding my treatment was BLURRY. Seriously, I cannot make this up! Blurry print for patients seeking eye treatment!! Is this a JOKE?!?! Is this intentional???. And as if that were not enough, if you do not believe me, JUST CHECK THEIR PROFESSIONAL LETTERHEAD. The printing is so light one would think, they must have had printer problems, but when looking at old letterhead...NO!!! It's always been super tiny and super light. Who is you graphic designer??? Should be fired! I do not understand the disrespect for patients in your office.

I had been a patient of Dr. Parson's at Ilumin for about 20 years. I decided to have her do my cataract surgery. Bad idea! She told me I would be sedated for the procedure, and the Ilumin surgery coordinator assured me that all her cataract patients were sedated. Turned out I went through the procedure at Methodist Hospital with no sedation: Very unpleasant: bright, laser-like light beam into my dilated eye; I could feel Dr. Parson's surgical motions, her pushing on the eyeball, and see the penetration and movement of surgical blades into my eye. She repeatedly admonished me to stop twitching my eye, even though I could not control such movement. At the post-op appointment, Dr. Parson said that two others she operated on the same day had complained about no sedation. I asked if she shouldn't have checked for sedation before starting surgery, and she said that wasn't her responsibility; the anesthesiologist was also a doctor, and sedating was his job, according to her. I suffered significant cornea swelling and macular edema after the surgery. In switching to another ophthalmological practice to treat those conditions, the Ilumin staff were less than cordial in forwarding my medical records.
