Husker lock and key is a decent place if you just want to get in and get out with services rendered. On the other hand, if you want to go somewhere where customer service is a high priority keep walking. Don't get me wrong, they're nice. Just not hospitable. They do the job and that's okay, I just would prefer to pay a business to be more friendly.

I normally try to shop local if cost is close. In this case, I went to Husker Lock and key for a replacement key for a 2008 GM vehicle and perhaps a fob. The local GM dealer was about $70 for a replacement key so I tried a local source. I walk into Husker Lock and Key, very clean and organized with lots of key blanks on the wall and samples of different lock styles. It took a couple of minutes of waiting for the first customer and was warmly greeted. I said I needed a key for a GM vehicle, she asked is it the one with a chip, I said RFID. She said $65 including the programming for the key only. I said I can program it myself. She said it requires a special programmer. I said instructions were in the owners manual and was told I was wrong.... asked about a fob and it was over $80. Went home, did a google search and bought two fobs and key blanks for less than $20. And the hardware store a block down will cut for a buck or two. All in all, I would trust and do business with them for residential or commercial locks. I am confident that they do a good job. As far as automotive goes, do your homework. Some replacements are dealer only, others may be more secure as technology and security has increased. In my case, I was able to get two keys, fobs and cutting for 20% of their cost that was $5 less than the dealer.

I've been in here a couple times in the last year and been very impressed with their service. It's a small little shop just off Cotner and both times I've been in there, the owner's been at the front desk chatting up the customers. I've only been in to have spare keys made but both times the customer service has been great. I'm always quickly greeted and even if there are other people there, they'll grab my key and start replicating it. They also have a good selection of decorative keys, which is always fun!As mentioned previously, they are very friendly and ask you all about how you are and what you do. The first time I was here the owner noticed my SUV had California plates and asked if I was new to the area and gave me the spare key at no charge. I came in the other day to have five keys duplicated and it was very affordable, around six or seven bucks. Definitely stop in and check them out! You'll at the very least appreciate what the friendly smile and jovial conversation adds to your day!

Received excellent service today programming a discount key fob I provided for my 2013 Ford F-150 with specialized equipment involved. Before stopping here, Ace Hardware cut two new key fobs I provided but wasn't able to program them. Once the new key programming was completed to allow the vehicle to start, I was then able to program a third (backup) key myself with two functioning key fobs. Remote functions on the two new keys also involved separate setup steps as well, I was able to locate steps online, complete the third (backup) key with working remote functions.Husker Lock & Key personnel were very friendly and knowledgeable. Their office is well staffed, team qualified across a wide range of locksmithing services.

I was quoted $50 for a car unlock. High price but was in urgent need. They apparently could not come, so they called another business without my permission. I was unaware of the change since the service pulled up in an unmarked van. I found out when he told me it was $85 and my car was already unlocked. Then this man told me that they called him because they were too busy. I was forced to pay. Completely scammed by Husker Lock and Key. If you cannot make it to help me, call me not another service. I cannot afford a random $85 bill.

This place gets exactly 1/2. The first time we called them, they sent Roland. Roland was awesome. Got the job done quickly and efficiently. We love Roland. The second work order was lost and it took several weeks and numerous phone calls for them to "find" the work order and send Charlie. Charlie arrived and didn't have the correct parts with him. So apparently this all-important work order failed to specify what it was that needed done. A few more phone calls later, we were expecting Roland again, only to have Charlie show up in the middle of our business day. Business day, you know, when customers are trying to walk in and out of the door. Charlie also needed assistance in repairing the door. Am I paying you for labor or what? It's been about an hour for what should have been like a 15-minute job and Charlie is still trying to find the right screw. He couldn't seem to get the original screw in tight, and actually tried to leave the job half done by saying "the screw could have been loose to begin with, but [he] doesn't know". Again, am I paying you to do a job or what? This place should get two stars, but I'm giving them one extra star because the other place I called (while Husker took a few weeks to find the work order) didn't know what a door pivot was. Use Husker if you can get Roland. Make sure they bring all the tools and manpower they need to do the job. And expect to keep calling if you want things done.

They came out and put a new lock in the front door at our son's house! They made quick work of it and we appreciate that they were able to fit us in the same day we called!

Husker lock and key was able in 15 minutes to program two Jeep 2022 FOBs that a Jeep dealer and an independent both failed to get working. Another expert dealer would not even try. Can I go more than 5 stars?

They arrived fast, but took a long time to unlock the front door. I personally had a friend in the 90's who was a locksmith, he was old and it took him forever to get a car door unlocked. Making a new key was usually the answer.
