Hunters Restaurant, Lounge & Keno

This is a great dive in Waco Nebraska. If there are events in the area it can be hard to get a table.The fried cheese curds and burger were excellent, I was really impressed with the quality of the beef. They have a variety of sandwiches, some steaks and salad options. My daughter got a kick out of the chairs being on wheels.Service was really friendly.

So I totally recommend this place, I was new in town last year and this is my favorite place. The food,the drinks and KENO. (I won $500 once).The owner is an amazing person! Brian Tomes. He bought Hunters 8 years ago and made it amazing. (Its known for the Prime Rib on the Weekend). What I really recommend (I go to HUNTERS all the time)Food:*King (king 12oz or queen 8oz) Prime Rib (medium rare) with baked potatoes (ask for the LOADED BAKED,it have bacon and cheese.*White chicken chili it's literally made from heaven.*Prime Melt sandwich *Fried Gizzard with ranch* You must try HUNTERS BURGER * A lot of people doesn't know but every Saturday they have different types of Burgers, just lunch times. My personal favorite HOUSE BURGER (JD the cook make an amazing job) try it with the steak fries. *Peanut Butter Pie is a must, and if you already full take the Brownie Sundae home (I tried 100000000 brownies in my life,there's nothing better than this homemade brownie.)And before I bored the people in yelp, give this place a chance. The servers are really nice. And if you want to party (you have a free drink or dessert for your bday) *$1 mystery shot *Huge selection of beers (believe me is bigger than a lot of the small town bars)*Huge selection of alcohol.

This place has a split personality. When you walk in you are presented with a choice of two doors: one leading to the Keno lounge and one leading to the restaurant/lounge. We chose the door on the right and sat at a bar that was your basic bar & grill type of place with a slight sports bar feel to it. We also checked out the other side, it was much darker and more lounge-like with more of an emphasis on hard liquor and mixed drinks as opposed to the beer emphasis on the first side. Though the Keno lounge is where the hard core Keno players hang out, you can actually play Keno on both sides. We probably would have had more fun had we chosen the lounge side. It had more people in it... we were pretty much alone in the side we chose.

The food and prices are great. We had their prime rib sandwich special with tavern fries which was very good. Their brownie sundae was to die for. We will be back!

Wow... honestly have never had service that poor. Myself and four friends walked in and sat at the bar for 15 minuets before getting up and leaving because no one said a single word to any of us. Having serious concerns as to if I'm living the Sixth Sense right now.

I decided that this needed 5 stars after being disappointed with yet another Nebraska restaurant's prime rib. No one can compete with Hunter's in Waco, NE. The best prime rib I've found.

We went on a Saturday night arrived at 630 and they were setting up an insurance party in there party room. We were served at 845!!! Server was doing her best but I could see the owner was directing the service and was not her fault. Food was good friendly server. If place is packed and you are hungry u may want to go somewhere else.

I love eating at local restaurants; we found Hunter's via a Yelp search. It is a friendly place that has character, including knotty pine walls and an original tin ceiling. The best part is, as it should be, the food. Based on other reviews, we tried the prime rib sandwich for lunch. It was tasty and very tender. Fries and onion rings were nice and hot and crisp. The dessert we tried was the brownie sundae (peanut butter pie comes on Thursday). Wow! So good. Large, 4-5" or more square of soft and hot brownie with two scoops of ice cream with a garnish of butterscotch and chocolate syrups. Don't forget about the tons of whipped cream!Local farmers were busy harvesting corn, so there were few customers inside. Instead they were picking up large boxes of food to go. Had to be a local favorite place.Service was excellent and the food came quickly. Also very important to me, the restrooms were very clean and tidy. It's certainly well worth the 5 miles to drive from I-80!

Some of the best small town bar food I've had in Nebraska. The Hunters Burger and Reuben were amazing as well as the sweet potato fries which had a bit of a cinnamon taste. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Very friendly service. If passing through on the interstate take the Waco exit and check it out.

This place knows how to buy great beef. Better yet they know how to cook it!! I'm hooked on their NY Strip. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better one anywhere in the world, this is Nebraska you know! We are the beef state and Hunters does a fantastic job of preparing this local delicacy. I need to try the highly acclaimed prime rib sometime, but like I said I'm addicted to the NY Strip!! I know some reviewers have mentioned less than great service, but I believe that is an aberration rather than the norm. After many visits service has always been prompt and courteous. I also like the atmosphere of the east side of the restaurant. It's a turn of the century old time pub complete with tin tiles on the ceiling and a big wooden bar suitable for sliding frosty mugs of beer on. Throw in a couple big screens so you can watch the game and life is good! Realistically we all dine out searching for great food and Hunters knocks that out of the park.
