Hometown Foods

This is a great small town grocery store. The workers are friendly. They have a great selection of beer and alcohol for its size. And I love their bakery selections. The lemon bread is my favorite!

We shop here quite often because it is closest to our home (otherwise we have to drive an hour to Des Moines), and I HATE buying groceries here! Employees are rude and 9 out of 10 times they never ask me for my points reward card (yet they ALWAYS ask the elderly customer in front of me, behind me, at the next counter, etc.). They never say thank you, have a great day, nothing. They follow you around the store and watch you like they think you are going to try to steal a turkey or something. Groceries are 2 to 3 times more expensive than Des Moines stores, so we buy the bare minimum here. I would prefer to shop locally and support local businesses, but they need to teach ALL their employees good customer service and how to smile and be friendly to customers. Of course, I've learned nearly everyone from Iowa is rude and that no one in this state understands good customer service anyway.
