Great food and awesome staff. We came in on a holiday with 7 people and a wheelchair, and they were incredibly accommodating. Food was great and reasonably priced, and great variety. One note: they are cash only, so plan for that. Also check out the international bakery next door on your way out!

My wife wanted pancakes after a day at the zoo. Looked up pancakes near by and got a lot of IHOP and Home Cafe. Reviews said great pancakes and chicken fried steak. Sounds perfect! I love chicken fried steak. The pancakes were exactly as pancakes should be. I can't comment on the chicken fried steak though because the special was enchiladas and eggs. No can resist. Enchiladas were excellent and the pitcher of homemade salsa kicked it over the edge. Best breakfast I have had that I didn't cook myself in a long while.

It's cash only as everyone here will tell you many times. Old school diner that is not dressed up to feel old school. It just is. Old country on the radio, retired folks chatting across tables and the entire room really. It's a small town vibe with excellent home cooked food. The hamburger steak breakfast reminds me of breakfasts from my own home when I was younger and it's why I keep coming here. Not a big staff, so if it's busy you can wait a minute. When it's not busy the food is out very fast. If you are a clean freak, probably not your place.

Stopped in for a late Sunday breakfast. I really like this place! It is a total hole in the wall with friendly old fashioned service! I felt as if I was eating in a small town diner. I'd say it reminded me of Mel's Diner (TV show), but this place was not as fancy as Mel's Diner!!It wasn't too busy when we arrived. Grabbed a booth that still needed cleaned off. Our waitress came to ask what we wanted to drink. She then wiped off our table with a very wet rag, and then tossed our napkins onto the soaking wet table. Eesh. Had to use our napkins to dry off the table! Anyway...we laughed that off. There are a ton of knickknacks all over this place. Between that and the menus all over the walls, there was not a lack of things to look at!We stuck with the basic eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns. My eggs came out a touch overdone, but nothing I'd complain about. Bacon was crispy and I asked for my hash browns to be crispy, and they were perfect! Everything was good...prices and quality very comparable to 11-Worth Café! We also ordered sides of biscuits and gravy, and a blueberry pancake. Both were tasty! For many this place would be just too casual for them, but for many folks that are looking for a decent meal that is cheap and quick...this is your place! Friendly service and good grub. I'd like to come back and try something for lunch. They have several lunch/dinner items that sound good! Oh...and cash only!

Awful, awful, awful...no way to describe the absolutely horrible quality of the food here. Avoid this place like the plague. They seem to be nice people, but in my opinion this cafe probably saw its best years between 1947 and 1948. It is visibly dirty inside. An earlier reviewer said eggs should be okay, but he was overly optimistic. My eggs were ghastly. I mean run out the door scary bad. Also the coffee was not obviously brewed from actual coffee beans, and I am no coffee snob by any means. Whew.

Simple, cheap, old school greasy spoon. Friendly service in a kitschy atmosphere. The pork chop and eggs are fantastic. I'm glad I got just one chop, cause it's rather large for a breakfast pork chop.

I loved this little backwoods breakfast cafe, like something out of the 50s, it's not ihop or dennys, if you want that go there, and don't leave these folks a bad review because the place wasn't clean in your head, this is a little mom and pops restaurant, prices are pretty much al a carte for everything, build your own breakfast, wether it's 2 eggs sausage and toast, or 7 eggs 2 pancakes and hasbrowns, everything is sticky, but it's history, it's your typical Mel's diner, and tiny kitchen but that lady cooking for all 7 different meals out hot and at the same time, better than any ihop I've ever been too, ihop cooks can't figure out how to make more than 1 order of eggs at a time, I'd go back here again and again, cash only, don't complain about that either, then afterwards go next door to the Mexican bakery ...amazing

This place reminds me of every diner my late father used to take me to growing up...greasy spoon he would call them. The regulars are there and the servers know what their order is without asking. While admittedly the place is not much to look at, the food is amazing! Generous portions, friendly service...you won't leave hungry or unhappy! Keep in mind they are cash only so hit an ATM at International Bakery or Mega Saver before you go. Can't wait to visit again!

Quaint old dinner with low prices. They only accept cash, no credit cards or checks, or even $50 or $100 bills! Breakfast served anytime, which we like. I had the Western Omelette, the wife had bacon & eggs. Both come with hash browns and toast. Food came out quickly and was cooked perfectly! Coffee was good. The server was friendly, patient and attentive. They had comfortable booths ( which is important to us). I asked how old this place is, she said about 100 years in same place with the same name! Looks like it was remodeled in the 60s or 70s. Did I say quaint? Quite honestly the place could be a little cleaner, but they did not scare me. This place does not have to work to be old fashioned, it seems to come quite natural. An old-fashioned style country music station was on the radio. I want to go back, the wife says maybe. I give it 5 stars for tasty food at low prices with good service. BTW South Omaha is mostly Hispanic these days, Home Cafe is a holdout from another era.
