Kayaking at Holmes lake

I came by here with a good friend yesterday. We went on a walk while trying to take photos and get information for an upcoming memorial that will be held. It was nice to see such a clean and beautiful park. The lake was shining beautifully in the sunlight! The roads and picnic areas we viewed seemed really well kept up. It was cool to see people and their children in the playgrounds. Appears to be such a beautiful and safe park to be at! The only downfall is the outhouses close to parking lot 5. People don't know how to use them properly and were destructive of the doors. This is not the parks fault, however, better bathrooms never hurt. Overall, a great place to be.

What you see is what you get. No surprises here. From any vantage point you see the entire lake. Numerous anglers and kayakers. I came for a morning walk. Well maintained flat gravel road. Note it is not a loop. Fortunately, I was in partial shade with the heat wave. Pleasant breeze with the adjacent prairie restoration. Maybe a mile one way. Two parking lots.

Great place for kayaking, paddle boarding and fishing. The water sport people are super friendly and very relaxing small lake in Lincoln. If you want more of a nature experience I recommend Wagon train state park where you can swim. Here you cannot and it can get a little algae laden when it gets warmer.

I really enjoy going to this park from time to time when I'm in town visiting family and friends. There's plenty of green space for all types of activities and get togethers (when appropriate). There's of course the lake which is always nice to see. The sound and sight of the water is always relaxing. If I want to clear my head or have an open area that's bigger than a backyard that's what this park is good for. :)

What a lovely place for a run or stroll! Despite the heat, there were so many people out enjoying the lake. People were fishing--both from the dock/shore and in small boats. People were picnicking, running, walking their dogs, and more! We didn't quite go all the way around the lake, but it's supposed to be just over two miles. We came for the sunset, which was lovely!

I accidentally found this place while in Lincoln recently and as I took a few minutes to stare at the lake, I realized that there was going to be an amazing sunset here and I quickly ran my errand and then headed back to watch the sunset. The geese were out in full force and only aided the beauty of the pics I was able to get of a sunset on a partially frozen lake.

Very nice little city lake. Lots of people. If you're trying to commune your nature you might try somewhere else, because it gets very crowded. The fishing is good, and the crushed limestone trail around the lake is good for running jogging and biking. Beware crazy people, Holmes lake attracts them.

I wanted to stop for a morning walk and this is the first Park that came along. The Holmes Lake Reservoir seems a little green in the water but it's a beautiful piece of water there are people voting that was wonderful but what was really wonderful we're all the people in the park families groups children running playgrounds beautiful trees beautiful walkways lots of joggers lots of shade lots of benches lots of picnic tables lots of parking it's everything you would want a park to be and more. So get that picnic basket and have a picnic or get up early take a run in the park or take a stroll with your honey or whatever you wish. Lincoln is lucky to have such a beautiful Park

Nice place to sit and relax. There were people kayaking and paddling around on the lake and many joggers/runners/walkers going around the path. Lots of parking spots. Playground area with picnic tables was busy. There were also a smattering of shaded picnics tables where I was near the "dam".If it hadn't been so humid, probably would've stayed longer,

It was a beautiful lake. We walked around the lake slowly and took about one hour. The sunset created a perfect walking setting.
